The area should see a warm sun filled day as Easter egg hunters and watchers enjoy bright skies. Saturday’s high near 80 to 84 rising to about 90 in the southern Plains with light southerly winds around 2 mph. Partly cloudy skies possible with little rain expected, mainly in extreme northeast Texas.
A. A. Meredith longtime Cana dian River Project pioneer dies in Borger after a long illness. He served as secretary of the Cana dian River Municipal Water Authority and helped plan a reservoir and pipelines for 11 Panhandle and South Plains cities. The authority’s member cities seek naming the Sanford Dam lake Meredith in his honor. Meredith, a Louisiana native, moved to Texas in 1909 and held key posts in Amarillo Borger Plainview and the Canadian River agency. The Plainview meeting on March 12 honored him and urged the reservoir be named Meredith Lake. Congress will decide on the lake name.
The Avalanche Journal reports the Home Show and Trade Exposition starts at 2 p m today at Municipal Coliseum with 86 exhibitors, 144 booths, and 1500 Hawaiian orchids for adult women. Daily drawings award $500 in merchandise certificates. Tech exhibit on molecular research from Washington includes a panel display.
