Ex-wife spared as flier kills self in barroom dive
Private pilot John Covarrubias 38 crashed his twin engine plane into the Branding Iron Bar owned by his former wife Nellie Covarrubias 34 in Itman Nevada early Saturday. He died in the fiery impact injuring three patrons. Nellie, who had refused to reunite, escaped unharmed. Police call it a kamikaze act aimed at the bar, with two parked cars also struck as the plane hit. The bar, a concrete block building, withstood the blast and firefighters contained the flames. The driverless wreckage left a 10 foot hole in the structure. This ends with Covarrubias dead on a burning car.

Burns Fatal To Actress Linda Darnell Dies After Burns
Linda Darnell, a Hollywood star of the 1940s and 50s, died at Cook County Hospital after suffering burns from entering a blazing room in a friend's home while attempting to rescue a teenage girl. The Dallas-born actress, 43, had 80 percent of her body burned and spoke to her daughter shortly before passing. She and others were evacuated from the Glenview residence where she had stayed with longtime friend and secretary Mrs. Richard Curtis.
