David Casey won the Lubbock mayoral race by 45 votes over Dr. Charles W. Finley in a high turnout city election. Final unofficial results: Casey 4,227. Finley 4,182. Charness 433. Curfew ordinance passed 7,536 to 1,147. City Commission results: O'Mara 4,992 over Payne 3,739 for Place 2. Chappell 5,389 over Bryant 3,255 for Place 4. Total ballots 8,842, a city election record. canvass planned at City Hall.
In Dillon South Carolina Gamble Benedict 19 and Andre Porum beanu 35 sought a marriage license after fleeing New York with three men. The ward of her grandmother faces court limits on marriage. Porum beanu could face contempt of court and his prior divorce became effective Tuesday.
