Car Hits Train Kills Two Area Residents in Weekend Crash

Train Collision Fatalities in Hale Center
A collision at a railroad crossing near Hale Center injured occupants of a car and killed James Thornton. Elmo Langford of Slaton, the train engineer, was uninjured. Cecil Scott Forester the British novelist who created Captain Horatio Hornblower died of an apparent stroke in California at age 66.
