Pittsburg September news reports 15000 to 18000 coal miners returned to work following a convention approval to operate all mines under the 65 cent scale set in Columbus. The district’s remaining 23000 miners were to be back by week’s end. The strike lasted 65 days and cost about 7000000 dollars to the public. miners lost around 2500000 in wages.
Originating from a petty quarrel between Lehigh and Wilkesbarre mule drivers and their employers, the strike has grown to involve nearly ten thousand men and all major operators in the middle coal fields. The miners lack organization, many do not know their reason for striking, and many have quit without seeking higher pay.
A Vermont Central local passenger train and the Montreal express collided at 4 20 am today near Essex Junction causing damage to both trains and injuring two men. Traffic was delayed. the express was headed for Boston.
In Dallas on September 15 Dr. T. A. Carter of Kaufman and Charles P. Russell of Abbot, once friends, dueled over a real estate deal and both were shot. After several rounds, both men died.
Havana residents face two days with no meat and scarce milk with only hospital patients receiving regular supplies. The situation emerged as shortages hit daily life in the city.
A collision off Fifty-ninth Street in New York between the Catskill and the St Johns leaves the Catskill wrecked on the New Jersey shore at Weehawken. About 1000 excursionists were aboard the St Johns and 30 on the Catskill. Three passengers are missing or drowned, including a small boy. A man from Hoboken was rescued with a fractured leg. The incident is blamed on misread signals.
In July 1893 the National Bank of the Commonwealth and Derryfield Savings Bank closed. Morrill vanished two or three days later and has not been seen in Manchester since, while Moore serves a term in Concord state prison.

Mrs Angeline P widow of Stephen B Currier dies at her residence 19 Eighth street on Wednesday aged 78 years 11 months 23 days. She leaves two sons Frank H Currier of Reed City Michigan and Harry L Currier of Middletown New York two daughters Mrs H B G Wheeler and Mrs Gardner Wills of Lowell, and one sister Mrs A M Durant of Lowell.

Charles F Morrill aged about 50, longtime bank employee and former cashier, died in Buenos Ayres from complications after a 25 foot fall. He had been connected with the First National Bank for over twenty years and resigned in 1892 to help found the National Bank of the Commonwealth in Manchester New Hampshire.
Democratic caucuses across wards 1 5 and 6 drew little overall interest last night yet produced tense faceoffs over control of senatorial delegates. In ward 1 and ward 6 Pearson adherents pushed for a Senate majority, while ward 5 saw rivals of McElholm and O’Hare vying for representative delegates. The Pearson and Furlong tickets each claimed lists of delegates for state senatorial and county positions, with ward 5 detailing a lively contest that turned on delegate selection and committee influence.
Patrick Owens called the meeting to order at 7 40. After reading the call he declared no business would be conducted. Joseph Dawson acting as secretary resumed the gavel and reassembled the meeting. Owen Tully was chosen chairman with P H Rogers as secretary. A committee of three was appointed to list delegates: Dawson, Rogers and Tully. The nominated delegates were Tully Gordon Dawson Rogers Griffin. The list was unanimously adopted and the caucus adjourned.

A Boston caucus held in Central street's station passed smoothly despite a tax bill voting dispute. William J. McCluskey elected chairman Jeremiah McGlinchey secretary and delegates for O'Hare and McElholm tallied with 122 and 60 votes respectively in the representative contest.

The 42nd Middlesex North Agricultural Society fair opens amid ideal weather and strong attendance. Poultry, flowers, and vegetables displays draw steady interest as premium seekers arrange exhibits for expert judging. Dining tents offer daily meals by the Woman's Relief corps.
Market notes indicate little change since last week with abundant peaches and scarce native fruit. Delaware peaches are plentiful and good in quality, with grapes also in greater supply. Delawares sell for 20 to 25 cents a basket. Wheat and flour hold steadier, while other grains trend higher with wheat.
In Police Court before Judge Hadley the only notable case was P J Hallinan charged with malicious mischief for a fire in the rear of Wy mans Exchange last Tuesday night. Witnesses testified. at 1 o clock proceedings were not complete. Inspector Donaldson led the prosecution. John C Burke represented the defendant.
Five drunks were disposed of before the Hallinin case. James Smith received a 15 day jail term while John Bradley was fined 15 dollars for assaulting Officer Curran.
Margaregy Goesn died September 15 at 2 Joiner's Court off Lawrence Street. She was 70 years old.
