Col. Kerway brings a 100 pound ore sample from Cripple Creek to Colorado Springs. The free gold value is reported at $100,000 to the ton. The ore comes from a new field discovered Saturday and is described as the most sensational find in Cripple Creek.

Woonsocket R I Sept 14 Act Workers at the Woonsocket woolen mills received pay envelopes showing a 7 percent wage advance for the week ending Sept 4 and a return to the 1893 wage scale. About three hundred workers benefit from the increase.
Daniel C Brown a young assistant postmaster at Marblehead was arrested August 28 on stealing letters in transit through the mails and held for the United States grand jury in 1500. A Boston and Maine passenger train near Byfield station struck a two seated wagon killing both horses and badly shaking four occupants Frank Be Gleason and Charles L White of Andover escaped with minor injuries.

City treasurer Coburn held the annual tax auction at 10 oclock, selling 88 lots advertised for 1895 taxes. Most bills were paid beforehand, with sales to first bidders at amounts including 43.37 for 47 and 51 Floyd street to Peter A. Fay and 59.37 for 215 Parker street to G. H. Stevens, among others. one sale was postponed for lack of bidders.
An alleged failure of the city to comply with the provisions of the deeds was raised as City Engineer Bowers testified on the stand at adjournment. The case will probably be finished today.
Lowell City Clerk proposes moving the clerks meeting to canvass election returns from Lyon Street schoolhouse to the City Clerk’s office. Chelmsford and Billerica town clerks back the shift citing central location and easy access by electric cars. A hearing is set at the courthouse on September 20 at 10 a.m.

Annie Connors drew four months in the workhouse for drunkenness. Sesteros Lamps and George Kutsu bos were continued on assault and battery charges. John and Rose Moran’s drunkenness case adourned at noon recess.
Patrick Kane of Fayette Street, Lawrence, died suddenly yesterday afternoon probably from heart trouble. He had come to visit an acquaintance, called at 15 Water Street to speak with Mrs Heffernan, and collapsed in the kitchen. His wife works in the mills.
In Cambridge Superior Court yesterday the trial opened for the former boulevard owners seeking damages from a dispute. The proceedings concern claims of losses tied to the boulevard, with formal arguments and evidence to be presented as the case moves forward.
Wendell H Ordway an established figure in Boston theatre and amusement circles was killed in Toronto on Saturday after a fall from a moving train. Born in Stratham New Hampshire eighty seven years ago he spent decades in vaudeville and lectures including the Zoo in Boston’s old Public Library. He toured with Noahs Ark and Peck’s Bad Boy shows and was briefly at the Bijou theatre. His wife Phyllis Ruffell a noted singer accompanied him on many engagements. The couple, devoted to each other, were last apart during the season as he worked on the road and she performed in summer venues. He was known for his genial manner and conscientious work in the field.
Funeral services for Katie McHuch were held at St Peter's church at nine this morning with Rev Fr McManus and bearers James Reagan William Ryan James Cuff and Frank Cummings. Burial in Catholic cemetery under Undertaker Molloy. Other services include Roger Donohoe Isabella Harrington and Thomas McNally with burials in Catholic cemetery and J F O'Donnell undertakers. Also notices for John W Howe Mary Meehan and George J Dutton with brief death and burial details.

The late Mrs Rose KE O'Brien was honored at St Patrick's church with bearers Peter Quinn J J O'Brien John Smith Michael McPartland David Scanlan and Patrick McKiernan Rev Fr Leonard officiated and burial followed in the Catholic cemetery. William I Bowen's service occurred at 199 Hildreth street with Rev G N Dorr presiding a quartet sang body sent to Compton Quebec for burial. Bernard Garra's funeral was at the Church of the Immaculate Conception led by Rev Fr Lawrence O M L with choir directed by Mr P P Haggerty bearing by Thomas Maxwell John O'Connor Malachi Burns William King Thomas Brennan and Mr Kane. Graveside rites by Rev Fr Reynolds OMI. Undertaker Davey led arrangements.
News arrives of the death of Mrs. William B Fisher formerly Miss Charlotte L Mitchell at the Parker house New Bedford early Monday. Funeral will be at New Bedford Wednesday with interment at Mount Auburn. She was niece of the late Judge Crosby and longtime High Street church worker. She died after no prior illness and left a family and many friends.

Mrs. G. M. Clarke of Lynn Massachusetts describes scarlet fever in her eighteen month old son leaving him weak with blue skin and a poor appetite. Winter colds and coughs followed until Hood's Sarsaparilla was started, restoring strength and removing the blue tint.
