Miss Jane Toppan, a trained nurse previously based in Lowell, was arrested in Amherst New Hampshire on murder charges related to the deaths of Mrs. Mary Gibbs and three members of the Davis and Brigham families. Autopsies show poisoning. investigators plan exhumations to probe the killings.
Harry Gordon a Lowell cash supervisor at Equitalle Life Insurance is linked as a supposed victim in the Miss Toppan case. O A Brigham Boston & Maine agent in Lowell knows Miss Toppan well and declines comment as details surface. District Attorney Wier is aware but avoiding questions from a Citizen reporter amid no indictment yet.
Nashua New Hampshire October 30 Jane Tappan wanted in Bourne Massachusetts for murder by poisoning Mary T Gibbs was arrested in Amherst by Inspector Flood Deputy Wheeler and Detective Whitney. She was found at George Nichols house and arraigned on murder charges waiving examination before transfer to Boston.

Miss Jane Topran arraigned in Barnstable on suspicion of involvement in Mrs. Mary Gibbs's death at Calhume t. She arrived from Amherst, N H on the 3 40 train with State Officer Whitney and will face the local court at 9 tomorrow. Captain Irving Gibbs learned of the death while away on the schooner Golden Ball and ordered an investigation via District Attorney Holmes.
O A Brigham and family insist Jane Toppan killed Mrs Elizabeth S Brigham 69, Mrs Florence N Calkins 47 and Mrs Edna F Banister as detectives note a pattern with Davis family deaths. Testimony recalls Toppan near hospitals, narcotic poisonings, and inconsistent behavior raising concerns about her sanity and past conduct.
Barnstable October 31 Miss Jane Toppan was arraigned in the police court on the murder charge of Mrs Mary Gibbs at Cataumet August 9 last. Her case was ordered continued until November 8. She pleaded not guilty.
