In Allentown Pennsylvania on October 27 Mabel H Bechtel aged 21 was murdered last night. Her body was placed in an underground alley near her home and later found by her mother. Her skull was crushed and two men were seen carrying an object from a carriage. No arrests yet.
Bilbao Spain October 27 striking miners dynamited a railroad round house and the electric light and telephone plants. Employers refuse wage demands while men remain idle awaiting work resumption. The push is to force direct talks without union mediation.

Boston women messengers report a new hope as aldermen order Western Union to remove poles from city streets within two months. The mayor has ten days to sign, and officials debate whether the move follows the messenger incident or other reasons. Poles removal would cost Western Union greatly and disrupt service.
