Manila report says Lawton’s Ist Cavalry advance guard entered San Isidro yesterday at 1 30 am. American casualties stood at one killed and three wounded. Heaviest resistance occurred at San Isidro.
Ferdinand era reports describe enemy destruction of a bridge and Del Pilar leading the attack. One Spaniard and fifteen Filipinos were captured as fighting continued near the riv er. In Vienna, Schneider, linked to the Dreyfus affair, died from wounds after a duel with Capt. Cuignet on October 18 following statements at the Dreyfus trial.

Hanover Oct 19 The fifth annual convention of the grand lodge Alpha Kappa of the medical fraternity of the United States was hosted by Alpha chapter Dartmouth. Anniversary Chairman Granville presided at the postprandial exercises. Prof C B Richardson delivered the welcome. Toasts were given by Grand President George F Cook J J McNamara J I Campbell Thurston Dexter and Philip Webb Davis.

The United States transport Resolute, freighted with provisions, departed New York for Porto Rico. It arrived Monday from Philadelphia with 400 tons aboard and loaded about another 400 tons in Brooklyn before sailing.
The public is invited to a sale offering six styles of boys vestee suits for ages 3 to 8, made from wool and fancy cheviots with handsome trimming. Coats feature narrow or sailor collars and regularly priced four to five dollars. sale price presented as a bargain.
London Oct 20 General Symons reports Boers shelling Glencoe camp and British troops moving out to attack. A follow up despatch says the position and five guns were captured after heavy fighting. Gen Symons wounded as about 3000 Boers fought.
Old Bay State chapter D A R held a March meeting at Mrs A R Williams home to mark the surrender of Yorktown. A brief literary program followed with a paper on the campaign in Virginia and Cornwallis surrender. Miss Williams and others presented music and readings, refreshments served.
The Lowell and Suburban railway will hold its annual meeting next week to discuss a proposed lease of the local road to the L. L. and H. division of the Consolidated Massachusetts company. President E. M. Tucker says the transfer of lease will be fully determined at the meeting.
The Molly Varnum chapter of the D A R met yesterday afternoon at 437 East Merrimack Street with 52 members present. Miss Ella H Stevens described the Hing ham State conference and Miss Marion Brazier of Boston spoke on John Paul Jones, with the table decorated in national colors and refreshments served.

The Lincoln club announces rallies in Pawtucketville next Thursday evening and in Ward 4 Friday evening on November 3. The Centralville rally is postponed to Tuesday, October 31.
