Fred J. Hyatt a Melrose resident of nine years was shot and killed near Kendall station Wyoming on Sept 22. Leigh Butler named as assailant fled to the mountains. Hyatt carried at least 200 dollars and a gold watch. wife in Malden reports his departure to home on Sept 22 after quitting work Sept 21. Hyatt had worked as a cellar builder and earlier moved west after a fire destroyed his Melrose home.

Merritt & Co. from Moody and Suffolix to 22 and 24 Crosby street, and a hearing was set for Thursday evening October 11 at 8 o clock on the McCaffrey license transfer from 13 Adams street to 150 Hall street. Licenses granted included common victualler entries for Ulric Desrochers and others, a junk collector, auctioneer, and pool room approvals, while Ovile St. George’s common victualler license at 220 Aiken street was revoked. Catherine McKeon's express license application was withdrawn.
