The process stretched over hours and ballots with Joy prevailing on the 25th after a late- arising shift by Marlboro and Medford delegates.

In police court this morning Martin M. Richards of company L Fifth Massachusetts regiment was fined $3 for drunkenness. Nine other drunks were dealt with, three fined $1, four sentenced, two released. Fred B. Miller was sent to the Massachusetts reformatory for drunkenness. John E. Kerwin and John L. Curran received workhouse terms, Thomas F. KellihER to the state farm, Bernard E. Noon found guilty of assault and battery with a $15 fine, Dennis J. Mahoney ordered to keep peace on bond, William Ferriss fined $5 for walking on railroad tracks. Four youths charged in a grocery store break-in faced various outcomes including probation and reformatory sentences. Lewis appealed and was held for the superior court. In Superior Court, Sherman, J. ruled Gray cannot recover for alleged impact on a patient after the break-in at Jefferson sanitarium. Dr. Jefferson may recover nominal damages for breaking and entering with possible further damages deemed by a jury.

Ward S. Dudley died in Lowell on October 4 after living 40 years there. Born in Kingfield, Maine, he was 67 last April. A skilled mill worker at Wamesit and lifelong Grace Universalist member, he held Masonic and Order of Knights honors and left a wife, two sisters, and a brother.
John Dempsey’s son and nephew of Patrick Dempsey, dies at home in Pawtucket. Timothy J. Higgins, 27, of 230 Fayette Street, dies at St. John's Hospital of typhoid pneumonia, leaving a wife and three children. Funeral held Friday with Rev. R. A. Greene officiating. Daisy Shaw Merritt and G. F. Sturtevant sang. bearers from Odd Fellows attended the grave. Currier funeral service.
Funeral services were held for Mrs Catherine Morris at Sacred Heart Church with organist Adelaide Sullivan and choir, burial at Catholic cemetery. James E. Ryder’s funeral was at St Peter's Church with burial in Catholic cemetery. Charles W. Brigham's funeral occurred from 27 Wilson Street with burial at Edson cemetery.
Mr Edward Cote of Montreal is visiting cousins the Misses Cote on Thorndike street. Mr Arthur K Lane of Boston named tenor for First Universalist church choir. Lieut Joseph S Francis of Massachusetts heavy artillery heads to Philadelphia for a phone job. Rev W A Morang cannot supply Mt Vernon church next Sunday. Doc Tinker with Perry Simpson Marty Smith and Ernest Puffer depart Saturday for hunting trip through the provinces. Miss Bertha Johnson and Katherine O Sullivan begin graduate work at the high school. Mr and Mrs John W McEvoy held their first at home at Tyler Park Thursday night.
Mrs Cyn thia E Tarbox died in the city on October 6. Funeral services will be from the residence of her daughter Mrs A G Thompson at 23 Ash Street Saturday at 2 PM. Friends invited without further notice.
