Vancouver reports the steamer Fasinet arriving from Skaguay with 500000 dollars in gold dust. Yukon Steamship Company manager H M Kersey predicts by January 10 ten thousand people will return with multiple millions in gold.

Mrs M C Allen, who left New York at midnight aiming to break the twenty four hour cycling record to Boston, could not complete her planned trip from South Norwalk Connecticut on October 3. The broken crank halted her ride and she faced an incomplete attempt.
The steam schooner Discovery reached Seattle at midnight from Alaska with 100 passengers. A. W. Lyman, a noted journalist born in Cincinnati in 1848, died this morning in New York. A large sum in gold dust reportedly accompanies the tale of the voyage.
Officers Ingalls O Brien and McCann chased four of five youths through back yards to capture two at the scene of a break in at Thomas F Head Co grocers 395 Central Street. The youths named James Lynch 12 Francis Paul 13 Victor Sousa and John Lewis 16.
Work on paving Aiken street by Dunn Brothers proceeds despite a Saturday strike as 23 men quit over pay. Firm offered $1.35 start, raised to $1.50, while some workers earned $1.75. Dunn Brothers cites city contract at $1.97 per yard and says only Lowell men are employed. Completion hoped for week end. French Americans seek city petition risking thousands to open Little Canada, prompting removals on Ford and Moody streets.
The plan outlines purchasing a Catholic hall and a stable owned by the Lawrence Manufacturing Company on Merrimack Street and land for buildings. If completed, Aiken Street would become a direct route from Merrimack Street to Lake View Avenue, with a continuation west of St. Jean Baptiste Church.
Through the Lowell board of underwriters insurance firms in the city presented about 500 dollars worth of covers to the Lowell Protective Company in appreciation of its good work. The new postal law allowing money orders payable within the same city or town has just taken effect. The Lowell post office issued such an order the day of the law’s start, and numerous inquiries about within city money orders have arisen. The change is expected to be well received locally.
Tomorrow night marks the final naturalization papers deadline to vote in the State election. Republican conventions follow on successive days with district, senatorial, and representative events through October. Democrats note sixth and county meetings at Democratic headquarters while George Fred Williams sends a portrait to the Lowell base. A possible Democratic challenge to Hon. Fisher H. Pearson is discussed amid the Sunday Press stance on mayoral nomination.

Tuttle and Warren Hall condemned to Bridgewater state farm for drunkenness. Eugene Audette fined $15 for assault and battery. Orlando Pincois held $500 and case continued. Coback and Archer continued. Archer bailed but absent. Renard and Bordeau held on adultery Bonds $400 and $300. Paul, Lynch, Sousa, Lewis charged with breaking and entering continued to Friday.
Deaths include Mrs Samuel Hosmer of 42 Bowditch street and Miss Lettie A Newhall of Hinsdale. Hosmer leaves husband son Emery F Hosmer and sister Florence Burtt. Newhall dies in Lowell aged 58 after visiting sister Mrs Louise Shepard. Burial planned in Hinsdale Pine Grove cemetery. Also notices of Mrs Sarah A Nichols and Miss Amanda M Wheeler with surviving relatives.
Funeral services were held yesterday for infant Mary Bradley at 4 from her parents 83 Railroad street with Undertaker C H Molloy in charge. Infant Martin Howard was buried beside his family at 151 Lakeview rear and Cath om ic cemetery with Molloy as undertaker. Sarah Lewis funeral was at 4 from 9 Lagrange court near Lagrange street, with St Patrick's cemetery graveside rites led by Rev Fr McHugh and bearers Frank King Joseph King John King John Brennan Thomas Brennan Charlie Little.
Floral tributes poured in at the funeral of Richard M. Marshall at 75 Powell Street with roses, asters, lilac and other arrangements from family and friends. John Jones died after a 57 foot windmill fall in North Pelham, services held at 2 PM with Odd Fellows and K of P delegations and a pack of floral tributes including a shield and links.
Mr Harry J Donohue will spend the next few days in New York and vicinity. John Usher of 13 Walnut street was surprised by 50 friends Saturday night and given gifts. William H Davis of Boston attended a funeral in the city and returned Thursday. J Harry Whitten of Manchester NH visits Perley A Harriman. In New York Continental G F Adams and others attended a service in Jamaica Plain for Rt Rev Thomas Magennis. Rev Dr Alexander Blackburn discussed a potential call to First Baptist Portland Oregon and has long Cambridge pastorate history.
In this city on October 2 Stephen J. Smiley aged 71 died at home 366 Worthen Street. Funeral services at the residence Tuesday at 2 pm. Friends invited. Also in Westford on October 2 Amanda M. Wheeler aged 5 died.
