Peter Drahan of Cambridge a laborer aged 44 and married was struck by a train in Fast Somerville Monday afternoon. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital where he died in the evening.

Manila May 31 details of the capture of two officers of the Relief by Filipinos were received. Third Officer Fred Heppy and Assistant Engineer Charles Blandford rigged a sail on a ship's boat and sailed along the south shore opposite the insurgents. The boat was calmed and native canoes pursued and captured the men and boat before they hid in the woods. Monadnock landed a party and shelled the woods but could not rescue them.
One hundred troops will be sent from Frankfort to Manchester to back civil authorities in capturing the Bakers and Howards feud leaders. Nine men have been killed over years of bitterness. Two Bakers are jailed, more bloodshed feared when arrests are made.

George F. P. Putnam, born in Haverhill New Hampshire, longtime New Hampshire legislator, died in Kansas City Missouri of apoplexy at age 54.
London report says Sloan on Lord Beresford's Lutetia won the Caterham plate today in a field of thirteen. Flying Fox won the Derby.
The Board of Health plans to elect a new agent at the upcoming meeting amid external pressure to expand the force. Three veterans eligible for appointment are Fred A. Bates current head, Horace H. Knapp former agent, and John F. Murphy former yard superintendent, Murphy added to the list yesterday. The department’s appropriation should cover another salary, and the reorganized assessors department reports steady progress a month in.
An obituary notes the death yesterday afternoon of Alexander Billingsley at his home 76 Pleasant street after a two week illness from Brights disease. He was 62, survived by his wife and three sons John Fred and George, and had been a longtime local businessman who retired about a decade ago.
