The U S Supreme Court in a unanimous decision today upheld the lower court, reversing Comptroller Bowler’s ruling that the sugar bounty is unconstitutional. Justice Peckham delivered the opinion in United States vs Gay and Realty Co, the full bench deciding the bounty stands valid.
In Chicago on May 25 a man named Joseph Haceneck fought with Wenzel Hisinhamer after a 10 cent loss over beer. Haceneck’s boy failed to return with beer or money, triggering a quarrel in which Hisinhamer fired three shots, wounding Haceneck. Hisinhamer was arrested.
Prosecuting Attorney E H Farnsworth arrested Td Perry sixteen miles from Mansfield to shield him from an angry mob and jailed him at White Plains. Perry is suspected of murdering the Sawyer family. authorities say he sold the Sawyers team and bloody clothes were found in the team.
A man about 40 threw himself before a moving train in Old Orchard Maine. A card with the name Nathan Wright Cumberland Mills was found, along with Masonic and G A R emblems. The body is identified as Nathan Rand of Cumberland Mills, already a husband and father of two.
Fire swept through three summer houses and a barn at Woodmont early today causing about 10000 dollars in damage, partly insured. Mrs P P Hayes and children escaped unharmed while Bert Hotchkiss sustained serious burns. Milford fire department responded and aided the effort.
Biddeford Maine on May 25 Jean Chaudreau a 25 year old mill worker attempted to kill his wife as her screams drew neighbors. He fled upstairs and cut his throat. Doctors expect he will live. Jealousy was the motive.
London reports William Dunlop and William Turner, who stole the Burden jewels, will be turned over to U S officers tomorrow and Wednesday. They will travel with the recovered jewels on the White Star liner Germanic sailing for New York.
Storm last night caused heavy damage across central Iowa. Boldurat, 15 miles north, reports 24 killed while nearby Valeria nearly wiped out with 14 deaths.
In Broken Brook Nebraska on May 25 Henry Walker shot and killed his wife after a calculated plan. He was arrested and claimed his wife had attempted to poison him as justification.
In Albion Indiana on May 25 Edward Warner shot and killed his brother-in-law Charles Badger and fatally wounded Frank Badger after stepping up from behind. The incident occurred in a burst of insanity and left two dead in a single act.
The White Squadron comprising New York and three cruisers lifted anchor this morning and steamed out past the Narrows at 9 45 oclock.

Harvard defeats Pennsylvania by 8 to 3 as Harvard posts 99 and 7 against Pennsylvania 99 and 5. Yale upends Princeton 7 to 5. Boston University beats Boston College 13 to 5. Colby posts 25 to New Hampshire 22. Williams over Dartmouth 11 to 2.

Daniel Linnehan, living at 25 Watson street, is sought after a brutal assault by his father on his two sons, John aged 7 and Daniel aged 12, who were found severely bruised and naked at 1 o'clock Sunday. They were taken to St. John's hospital by Dr. Ricker after neighbors called an ambulance. Linnehan is in hiding. a prior assault record is noted.
Liquor inspectors visited Michael O Keefe on Church Street to check on Sunday liquor sales. They found him encircled by a whiskey filled heating pan worn under clothes. O Keefe faces illegal selling charges. Martin Coakley at 91 Summer Street is jailed for running a speak easy.
