Geo. D. Scott, manager of John D. Rockefeller's estate in Tarrytown, committed suicide with a revolver this morning. He suffered mental distress linked to a trolley car accident in Cleveland four years prior and reportedly smoked about 17 cigars daily.

Lewiston May 15 George W. Pierce was sentenced to 38 years in Thomaston State Prison for attempting to murder former Secretary Marshall H. Teel and Municipal Court Judge Cornish.
The Rev. Joseph B. Seabury long serving pastor of Dedham’s First Congregational Church and former John Street pastor resigns after fifteen years. He announced on Sunday with no set effective date, surprising the large congregation and drawing teary response. The Dedham Transcript editorializes regret at his departure and notes his strong local influence.

Forrest Brown 15 son of Alden T Brown of Highland avenue Waltham died after a cycle collision on Sunday at South and Vernon streets. His rear wheel was struck by an unknown rider’s wheel causing him to be thrown against a fence. He died three hours later at home from brain concussion after Dr Weed rendered no aid.
The Treasury Assistant Secretary Frank A. Vanderlip will chair a national committee to fund a Washington residence for Admiral Dewey. Navy Assistant Secretary Charles H. Chester S Cote formerly of this city died by his own hand Friday morning at his boarding place on Laurel street Manchester He was adopted by the Rev T G A Cote of Lowell and had known Rev Thomas A Dorion He had worked at Smith Wesson Springfield and later in Manchester Despondent over hard luck he often spoke of not living past his 27th year May 12 marked his 27th birthday His death prompts funeral arrangements by Rev Cote and the Manchester clergy.
Carders pickers and ring spinners union calls a special general meeting for Tuesday evening May 16 at Welles hall 173 Merrimack street to counsel together amid a crisis in union affairs. Merrimack mill officials threaten fines for oily and lumpy roving as some girls resign in protest while others refuse to submit and threaten discharge if work is unsatisfactory. They are commended for resisting the proposition at its inception.

Three tramps smoking on land off Princeton street started a grass fire yesterday afternoon. Volunteers and residents battled the blaze with a Westford street chemical unit arriving twice, first at two o'clock then at 3 30. Firemen took two and a half hours to quell the fast spreading fire on Old Meadow road owned by Thomas Varnum and Dr. Ward, with hundreds watching. Authorities suspect boys playing with matches started the fire.
A proposed North Woburn to Wilmington street railway will not be built soon. The Woburn franchise grants contain many restrictions that deter the company from accepting. The planned route would run through North Woburn to Lowell via Tewksbury and Billerica, places eager for the line’s operation.
A nude male infant was discovered Sunday morning inside a pasteboard shoe box along the canal bank near the Suffolk and Lagrange streets fence. A milkman found the body and notified police. it was taken to Molloy’s undertaking rooms for a postmortem by Medical Examiner Irish today.
County commissioners held their regular monthly meeting at the court house but only Dracut selectmen appeared to request inspection of extending Methuen street toward Lawrence. The Dracut petition asks acceptance of the street, which has benefited from numerous improvements and is now in excellent shape.

Harry Knilewitch, charged with receiving stolen property, also continued on $500. Reardon found guilty of drunkenness and assault and battery after a North Chelmsford incident, claiming self defense. Robinson Seminary alumni in Exeter formed at Hotel Vendome. plans include a trolley ride to Lowell. shipping schedules indicate travel to Southampton for summer abroad.
Sarah S Hill, 57, wife of Nathaniel Hill, died Saturday at 124 Wentworth Avenue leaving two sons Ralph and Paul and her mother Mrs Susan Nealley. Will H Parker, 22, son of Nathan and Lestina Parker, died Saturday at 20 Grove Street of appendicitis.
Funeral services for Ellen McCullough were conducted at 8 p m yesterday at St Peter's Church with Fr Mullen officiating. Burial followed in the Catholic cemetery under Undertaker O'Donnell. Bearers included Thomas McQuade Joseph McQuade Peter McCusker and others.
