Lorenzo says the youth first attacked him in the woods, then returned to strike with an iron bobbin, breaking the arm. Trial set for Saturday in police court. Incomplete census data hint Italy’s population above 32,000,000.

At Huntington and Broad Top railroad Mount Dallas, a freight engine boiler exploded killing four crewmen instantly. Two bodies were blown about four hundred yards across the river. The cause of the blast is not yet known.
The Eastman trial opened in Cambridge with defense counsel Mr. Elder delivering the opening plea. He attacked John Grogan’s testimony as pure invention, suggesting it showed vindictiveness and a desire for revenge. He questioned why a plotting killer would publicly announce the plan a week before the crime.
Arturo Bernacco, convicted of attempting to kill Barre Chief of Police Brown on December 26 after dispersing an anarchist meeting, was sentenced in Montpelier to 21 to 25 years in Windsor State Prison. Bernacco attempted suicide days ago.
Boston May 10 The counsel for Luigi Storti condemned killer of Michaele Calucci filed for a writ of habeas corpus arguing the electrocution sentence unconstitutional. Government opposition was strong as reprieve ends at midnight tomorrow.
John Prescott faced a disorderly conduct charge after causing disturbances on two Tyngsboro bound streetcars. Witnesses described profane language and refusals to exit, with Prescott claiming intoxication. Judge Hadley fined him $20. Other cases included assaults, vagrancy probation, and multiple drunken fines.
Tuesday night two men employed by S W Parker the expressman left Lowell for Medford with furniture bound for Somerville to load anew for Lowell. By Thursday no trace existed. Parker searched Medford and Somerville but found nothing. He notified police. one man is already known to authorities.
The Protestant Episcopal diocese of Massachusetts votes to divide into two dioceses with boundaries and finances referred to a bishop-led committee. Debate centers on a bishop coadjutor and timing, with a June or September adjourned meeting planned to report before the general convention.

Fire department called to the mattress factory of B Hapgood and Son on Lawrence Street where a slight blaze was found among stock and machinery. It was quickly extinguished with insurance held by F Church.
