In St Joseph Missouri last night knives and clubs were used in a race attack. Several deaths are suspected as the coroner sought to hold an inquest into the death of a black woman. Her husband and a mob opposed the coroner, but he prevailed after a violent struggle.
Milk producers in New England, organized and strong, debated withholding supply as contracts move to semi annual terms. A directors' committee reviewed farmers votes, aiming to resist terms, while wholesalers showed willingness to concede. Withholding fell short of two thirds, leading to a renewal of last summer's price.
A man found unconscious Friday in the Marie Tiotel New York later died Sunday in St Vincent's hospital after gas exposure. Two women in the same apartments were dead. The younger woman Eliza Jarvis 18 formerly of South Glens Falls was identified by her brother Stephen Jarvis. The other woman Mrs Mary Emeline Mahoney 32 identified by morgue staff had been separated from her Hartford Conn husband. Authorities suggest the two women may have spent the night together after meeting last summer.
Alton Illinois reports flood conditions worsening hourly as heavy rain continues. The Mississippi River is within three feet of record height with two months of wet weather ahead. Thousands of dollars of property have been swept away, and the outlook remains grim.
Perry Oklahoma March 29 The Wichita country owned and occupied by Ki owas Comanches and Apaches will be opened May 1 The opening promises to be more notable than any other in the territory as it includes the finest farming lands in this section.
Hon. H. F. Andrews of Audubon Iowa has published The History of the Hamlin Family a substantial family record tracing Hamlin line from England starting 1066 and from Barnstable 1639 to the present with thousands of descendants of James Hamblen making it a rare genealogical work.
Twenty two intoxicated individuals appeared in police court. Eleven fined one dollar, five fined one dollar plus, two placed on probation, two sent to the workhouse, and two to the state farm with one appealing. Fred Robarge held on $200 bond for larceny of a case of eyes from Samuel Reno. Dennis Donovan case continued to April 2. John Moriarty jailed two months for assault on Officer Markam, appealed and held on $200 for Superior court.
Emil Jones, 14, was sentenced to two years in a reform school for shooting his uncle after his objection to his marriage to the uncle’s 11 year old daughter. In Harrisburg a man died and another was dying after drinking a gallon of alcohol found in a barrel in a drug store cellar.

Keene New Hampshire March 29 The Keene Savings Bank, which had suspended operations some time ago, resumed business today returning to normal banking activities and services.
The commissioner of internal revenue announced a new rule requiring saloon keepers to pay a $100 annual rectifier's license for bottles of cocktails kept on shelves for sale to travelers and others. The rule excludes cocktails manufactured before purchase and bottled for drinking off site.
In Superior Court Judge Wardwell charged the Moynahan versus Boston and Maine railroad case, with lawyers present and the jury directed after a 10:45 submission. A horse on Thorndike street hill bolted this morning but was halted by High School Battalion officers.
Mr and Mrs John Billington observed their golden wedding at home in Lawrence Massachusetts. Their marriage was the first in the New City era of Lawrence. The couple have eight children and twelve grandchildren remaining.
Services at the Free Baptist church in Lawrence commemorated the church's fiftieth anniversary. Rev. E. T. Pitts, pastor, preached a historical discourse to large congregations both morning and evening.
Police disrupted a dog fight tip at the John Peters place on Ridge road near Nashua. Twenty four Lowell men were captured after a chase. one alleged promoter was shot in the leg. Bail paid, fines assessed, and court set for Sunday as officers dispute rival accounts.
Charles Callahan remains convinced he is superintendent of streets and keeps signing the department payroll after Supt. Fowler. He refused to sign when the payroll listed Michael Maguire's successor at the stables. Callahan urged the mayor to back him, while Fowler treats the situation as a joke and won’t alter the payroll.
Paul A. Kable, Lowell Y M C A physical director, will resign this week to return to York, Pennsylvania. He plans to join his father in a tailoring business, leaving behind a gymnasium built up under his leadership. A reception in the association hall is planned for Wednesday evening.
A Savoy benefit concert last night drew a fair audience praised for a refined program. The orchestra impressed with Gillet s The Mill and Delibes Intermezzo Nailia. A violin cello flute piano quartet by Lavigneur Whitney McCarthy Daly pleased all. Soloists Miss Jessie Mabelle Downer pianist and Miss Lucie A Tucker contralto received enthusiastic notices. Downer encoreed after each of her two numbers and Tucker s Patria Mattei was especially commended.

Names from New York occurrences include St Dennis Miss Clark Mrs A J Laughlin etc. Judge Hadley praised for impartial rulings at trial. Commerce note: mercantile building insurance at 25 percent reduced rates from H C Church Sons.
The body of John Young who died at his home in Lempster New Hampshire last Tuesday was brought to the city Saturday for burial. Services were held at the Edson chapel with Rev. O Mallory officiating. Undertaker Weinbeck had charge of arrangements.
William C Avery formerly of this city died in Stafford Springs Connecticut on Friday night from heart disease. The funeral is planned for this morning with burial in Sackville Conn.
Sherburne-Warren Sherburne of Pelham New Hampshire died at his son W A Sherburne s Tyngsboro residence on March 28. Funeral services will be at Pelham church Tuesday March 30 at 2 PM. Friends invited to attend.
