Stunning hats featured horse hair crowns Honiton lace ornaments and other stylish touches reflecting skilled milliner craft. The firm and staff earned praise from visiting ladies for a successful opening.

Dexter Missouri March 27 Judge R W Thompson of the Probate court is missing after going to Cairo to cash a 1200 dollar check. Authorities fear robbery and murder may have occurred and seek clues on his fate.

No new claims were made and creditors did not appear. Stephen B. Puffer offers 12 percent cash in 30 days after court confirms proposal and 16 percent in notes due one year later at 4 percent interest. Freeman W. Puffer offers 9 percent cash and 3 percent in one year promissory notes at 4 percent. Next meeting set for April 21 in this city.
Timothy Dwyer, a farmer near North Billerica, escaped death when a freight train struck his wagon at 11:30. Blowing wind hid the locomotive whistle, throwing him about 15 feet but he was out of the engine path. The train halted and assistance was given.

At yesterday’s overseers of the poor meeting the city farm agreed to open weekly Saturday visits to see hospital ward friends. The first Wednesday monthly will welcome pauper and prisoner visitors. Col Pindar is to build a concrete sidewalk from the building to the street.
The Monomake Encampment of Odd Fellows performed the third degree last night with District Deputy Hill of Lawrence and staff in attendance. A banquet followed in the hall with ladies in charge including Mrs Vinal Mrs Matilda Collins Mrs Mary E Offutt Mrs Nettie Wyman Miss Annie Gumb and Mrs Hattie Bickford and Mrs John Thomber.

Vesper Country Club members re elected the executive committee amid a lively meeting that drew three ticket challenges. Secretary Swapp reported a busy year with boat house projects, athletic events, and growth in membership yet noted weather and a few losses. An amendment on member suspension sparked debate, with Col F T Walsh proposing an appeal right to members.
Secretary Swapp detailed that members were suspended last summer for wilfully breaking rules guiding island club house management. Walsh amendment rejected, constitution change adopted unanimously. Henry Gates and Dana Bartlett named auditing committee. treasurer ordered to mail audited report copies to members. Lunch followed in the boat house with songs and impromptu specialties to end the evening.
