Performers included Isabel McGregor Edith Ames Ella Howard Rose Farnham and Grace and Lizzie Colby providing songs readings and instrumental music.

James N. Bourne resigns from his agent post at the Lowell Bleachery effective June 1. He forms a partnership with a Taunton mill man and has purchased the Bolton Bleachery in East Greenwich. A successor for Bourne has not been chosen.

They extol his rise from modest beginnings to high public service, urge duty over expediency and call for the resolutions to be entered in journal and sent to his bereaved family. The measure was unanimously adopted.

Captain J A Janvrin's class of young men in the street Free Baptist Sunday school held an informal reception for their teacher in the church parlors last [date]. The event reflected appreciation and community spirit as students and staff gathered for the occasion.
Hon Arthur P Bonney died at his Fairmount street residence after a long illness. He led the Merchants National Bank as president and held directorships with the Lowell and Dover railroad and the Lake Superior Ship Canal Railway and Tram company. A lawyer of note, he shaped major Lowell interests, served as city solicitor, and guided First National Bank as president from 1864 to 1880. He was born July 9 1828 in Plympton Mass and lived in Lowell most of his life. Funeral services are planned for Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
On Kirk Street a staging collapse at a roof repair job injured three men from Auburn and Chestnut streets. Joseph Tyrrell 50 suffered a fractured skull and broken wrist, Charles Sweeney 40 and John Grogan bruised. Tyrrell unconscious, Sweeney with multiple broken ribs, Grogan home. All taken to St Johns hospital.
A concert at Lawrence on Monday March 30 will feature a special train from Middlesex street depot at ten minutes before seven in the evening and return at 10 30 or after the concert. Round trip tickets cost 40 cents prepared by Mr Haggett at Railroad bank for active and associate members. Associate members may attend the concert free of charge.

The directors declared a dividend of 1.25 dollars per share payable Friday May 15 1596 to stockholders of record at close of business Thursday April 2 1896. The transfer book closes Friday April 8 to Monday May 4 1896, both days inclusive.

In a Lowell Superior Court session a witness, Albert S. Taylor, was arrested on perjury charges amid a case Ellen Smith vs Alvah G Stiles over a farm title in Billerica. Taylor allegedly forged deeds and a mortgage, arranged cash payments, and misled jurors as testimony contradicted him. Bail set at 5000, with three men posting bond. The jury later returned verdict for the defendant in the main suit.
Sickness kept Capt Crosby from his first Salvation Army barracks appearance last night but did not derail the meeting. Several soldiers offered as substitutes while Crosby and his Jamaica Plain wife may miss Lowell if illness requires appointing another officer to the field.

Mr W H Wiggin has begun laying a 900 foot single track railway from near the school house on Lawrence street to the Boston and Maine road below Wigginville station. He owns most land on the route and a Rogers heirs lot purchased yesterday grants him full privilege. He plans storehouses for various materials and will enable switching from the main track and Lawrence division.
The Mt Vernon Baptist church held a successful social last night with a supper committee led by Mrs. C. R. Watt and including Mrs. M. C. Kittredge and Mrs. H. V. Kittredge. Several women ensured no one left hungry, including Mrs. A. B. Winters and others, while Mrs. W. H. Kimball supervised the event. After supper, a social time followed for all attendees.
Ladies Social Union of Worthen Street Baptist held an evening of entertainment in the vestry with a supper and concert. Mrs Nutting supervised the event and performers included Misses Stevenson Getchell Field Whitmore Bean plus Robert Stevenson Chester Field and Mabel Getchell.
