Seventeen persons joined the Centre Congregational church this Sunday thirteen by confession and five by letter. Under Rev. F. I. Kelley eight months of pastorate have seen forty arrivals. The pews are nearly full and calls for enlargement of the church. A Good Will Society meeting is set for Tuesday at Mrs. Kelley’s home with an oyster supper planned Thursday by the Ladies Aid Society.
The Brazer and Co bicycle department is busy with customers and inquirers all day. Prices have fallen to a reasonable level and liberal terms make bicycles affordable for almost everyone this year.

A Madrid letter states the Spanish torpedo squadron at Cadiz will not sail for Cuba due to information from the United States and Gen. Blanco. The squadron will neither sail now nor in the future.
Washington March 8. The Washington navy yard, a large government establishment for gun and ordnance material manufacture, has begun three shifts with workers on night and day rounds to service the big guns.
New York March 8 Vice President Wright denied reports that the American liner St Louis would be taken to the Brooklyn navy yard to be armed as a cruiser. The vessel will sail on her regular trip March 16.
Madrid March 8 A semi official note says Spain has received no complaint about General Lees attitude. On the contrary General Blanco affirms Lees behavior has always been correct.
A severe blaze at Brownell and Arnold Peck caused extensive damage to rof and stock. The fire, fought for three hours, collapsed the roof after iron shutters and thick walls hindered access. Brownell stock valued at 100000 with 70000 insurance. Arnold Peck stock damaged 2000, both buildings fully damaged. three men injured.

Fire crews fought the basement start near the boiler room and escalated through the elevator shaft as flames gutted the fourth and fifth floors.

Lowell investors create the American Motor Wagon company led by W A Ingham to manufacture horseless carriages under the Lombard patent in Nashua. With a $1 million capital, the firm has Bates Machine at Nashua as its factory and aims to produce two carriages daily after May 1.
Dr George P Madden marked twelve years since opening Turkish baths in this city with a joyous yesterday event at the Laths in Middle street. Friends and customers called from 1 to 9 PM to wish him prosperity and enjoy a complimentary bath followed by refreshments. Two muscular assistants, John Yehle and William Daly, attended baths as Amenthos from Lowell newspapers stopped by.
