Joseph Mack died at 12.05 am at 13 Burns street after a long pulmonary illness. Born in Lowell in 1848, he studied in public schools and became a well known member of the old fire department, serving with Excelsior Engine Company, Chapel Hill, for more than 18 years.

A sisterhood service at Kirk Street church honored the Y W C A convention with Miss Hariett Baylor of Chicago as speaker. She praised sisterhood connecting women and urged active Christian home life while detailing aggressive work and plans of the YWCA including international and state committees.

Lieut Holmes of Lowell received orders from the navy department to report for duty in Honolulu immediately. He has been on shore duty for two years and will depart San Francisco on the Doric, joining the Baltimore in Honolulu before it sails to Hong Kong.
