Pierre A Brousseau, president of the common council, has been missing since yesterday. A delivery wagon driven by him was found abandoned at Sparks's stable after being left idle on Moody street near city hall. The Swift and Bailey firm has no explanation and notes he had been delivering meats since Wednesday afternoon.
The North Tewksbury Baptist church vestry saw more than 100 attend a turkey supper hosted by the Ladies Aid. Toastmaster George Trull led speakers including Rev. Pierce on Our Church and Ex Alderman George H. Taylor on Our Mother Church. Other toasts covered Our Town Our Sister Town and Grange and Our Children. Music by Frank Dobson and Mrs. George W. Trull.
Judge Bishop ruled on Qua’s demurrer in the union label suit. He held paragraph 7 sufficient to justify relief if proven. Demurrer overruled, pleadings due by March 9, case set for merits hearing the week of March 11 in Boston.

Berlin March 7 Emperor William arrived at eight this morning after a yesterday attack by Dietrich Weiland. The wound on his cheek below the right eye is an inch and a half long and reaches the bone. It bleeds and is described as a confused wound, bandaged without stitches, forcing cancellation of the Koenigsberg visit.
Boston report states Thomas J. Burns admitted guilt in the murder of his wife just six weeks after their marriage. He appeared in court visibly distraught, crying and unsteady, described as deteriorating mentally and physically as he faces the result of the crime.
Pretoria March 7. Boer leaders in the field are said to be ready to surrender with most of their followers if amnesty and help to start anew are granted and if free pardons are issued to the rebels.
A Hoboken four story building burned this morning in Hoboken New York. Mrs Emma Jones and her three daughters were badly burned and six families are left homeless. Mrs Jones and her youngest child may die.
London dispatch reports from Pretoria that Lichtenburg is under attack with fighting lasting all day. Major Fletcher and Lieutenant Hull were killed as Major threatens reinforcements.
Lieblig Grabau was charged with breaking and entering Philomene Corey’s Middlesex street store. He waived examination and is held on $500 bonds for the grand jury. J. J. Hogan appeared for him.
Leonard A Saville, longtime Lexington town clerk for 27 years, assumed duties as postmaster on Thursday. He plans to remodel the post office soon and has previously served on the board of assessors and the board of registrars of voters, befitting his status as a "forty-niner."
William W. Smith 38, partner owner of the Eagle foundry in Lowell, committed suicide by hanging at 49 Warwick street after a period of illness and despondency. Dr. J B Trueworthy attended, efforts to reassure him failed, and his body was found by Mrs. Smith in the cellar with a rope to a beam. The death shocked the Lowell community amid questions about his nervous disorder and lingering illness.
At the annual meeting in Middlesex hall trustees James W. Bennett Albert Pinder D Moody Prescott and James L Campbell were elected for three years beginning March 1901. They authorized sale of a 696 square foot parcel to the Boston and Maine railroad. reports show yard care and perpetual care funds growing toward 100000. Discussions include future trust duties, improved oversight, and potential interest on prospective lot purchases to encourage early investment.

At the Unitarian church in Billerica Centre on Wednesday evening about 200 parishioners and friends enjoyed a sociable with a supper an entertainment and a hat trimming contest. Miss Amy Hosmer provided music with violin selections by Mr. Charles Kohlrausch. A Japanese tea table was supervised by Mrs. Charles Kohlrausch Mrs. Nat Hutchins and Mrs. Joseph Talbot. The committee in charge included Mrs. C. L. Bigelow chairman Mrs. George Crog by Mrs. Warren Cowdrey and Mrs. Fred Casey. The waiters in costumes were Misses Alice Dodge Mary Morey Florence Colby Olivia Norcross Dorothy Kohlrausch Eva Colby with Miss Lucy Foster chairman.
The Highland Wheelmen club elected officers after its annual meeting. President A. H. Dana, vice president S. A. Pickering, secretary A. I. Houle, treasurer H. C. Moore, captain C. J. Connell, 1st lieutenant A. L. Smith, 2d lieutenant Charles Rockliffe, and four new members were initiated.
A notice notes a road shift from Lawrena to Andover Street Dover Road leading toward Trull Brook, where a new winding thoroughfare will be built around Trull Hill as plans proceed.
County commissioners heard two petitions for highway improvements from Andover street toward Lawrence on the Essex county line. The Trull plan aims to ease Trull hill by reducing grade from 10 to about 6 percent and extend work along the Andover road. George H. Taylor and others joined the second petition whose hearing was continued.
