Dry Goods Market in Brown Cotton Trade Stalls and Prospects

The Herald reports robust demand in brown cotton goods with strong mill activity and forward delivery, while export movement remains light. Bleached cottons rise after price declines, and mills anticipate stronger trade. denims, plaids, and ticking show steady pricing, though printing cloths stay dull. Imports fall for the week compared with last year, woolens drop more than cottons, and silk imports stay weak. Boston and Philadelphia jobbers see dull movement with a late-season uptick in summer fabrics and fall prints, as stocks are reduced before July stock-taking. Prices hold for ginghams, seersuckers, and silks, with navy blues and plain blacks in steady demand.
