Costello faced non-support charges, with the case postponed two weeks while his weekly payments to his wife are evaluated. Costello earns $13 weekly as a machinist.
Mrs Mary F Hanson observed her 80th birthday on Wednesday June 21 as 24 relatives gathered at Lakeview. They enjoyed theatre and a large collation while she received flowers and a generous sum from children and out of town friends. A longtime Middlesex fair contributor, she showcases remarkable embroidery aged 80. She is mother to Chas H Hanson Jas B Hanson Mrs Daniel L Whipple and Mrs Daniel R Frye, all of this city.
Fifty five youths from surrounding towns and parochial schools take today’s entrance tests for high school admission. The group is smaller than last year with few applicants from the city’s grammar schools.
The body of eight year old Salvatore Carcaterra was recovered this forenoon from the canal near Hamilton yard after being seen by a watchman who alerted undertaker C H Molloy. The drowning occurred Wednesday afternoon on Jackson street.
Thomas McAlvin of the Card Clothing manufactory on Broadway had his right hand caught in a factory fan this forenoon, resulting in a badly lacerated thumb. He was taken to St. John's hospital for treatment.

A fire at 4 44 this morning destroyed a small shed of the Boston Paving Company off Meadowcroft street near Walsh's mill and the railroad. The plant housed asphalt mixing machinery and two kettles of tar. Firemen saved the machinery but the building was beyond saving. incendiary origin is suspected though operations at the plant will resume soon.
The 45th Regiment association held its annual reunion at the Atlantic House Nantasket Beach with about 200 members and families. Secretary Whitcomb reported 861 dead 155 missing 469 living. a memorial service followed a memorial march and dinner with remarks by Werd Sturgis Bennett and Foster.
The remains of William Harris known as Bill Harris were buried yesterday at Edson cemetery after being taken from a boarding house on Austin street by Undertaker Albert. No funeral service was held and relatives did not attend. Police report several unknown visitors seeking papers believed found on the deceased after his death.
James McAleer 71 and Emma Bussell 62 die within a day in Chelmsford Massachusetts. McAleer longtime Lowell Machine Shop employee leaves a widow and six children. Bussell, born Paine in Eastport Maine, widow of David A Bussell, settled Carleton estate 35 years ago and hosted many nephews and nieces in a gracious Unitarian home built on hospitality and intellectual interests.
A devoted local worker in the Village Improvement association and Literary union, she shouldered heavy burdens with quiet faith. Burial is at Eastport with a funeral service Saturday afternoon at the family home at 180 o'clock.
Funeral services were held yesterday morning for Kathe rine Rogers at St. Peter's church with Rev. W. George Mullin officiating. Burial followed in the Catholic cemetery under Undertaker Rogers with bearers Michael Boyle Michael Brady Michael O'Heir John Donahue Sullivan and Peter Monahan. Mullin also presided at the grave. Holden’s funeral from 438 Shafer Street was held yesterday afternoon, Rev. Dun can A. MacPhie officiating, burial in Eyson cemetery with Undertaker J. B. Currier. Ella F. Ditson’s service from 150 Church Street was led by Rev. George F. Kenngett. burial in Edson cemetery under Undertaker C. M. Young.
