The stock market is buoyant amid talk of water in pension funds and other oddities. Citizens rush to light straw hats as the commencement season begins and native strawberries near, while disputes over Judge Bell's decision linger.
Petersburg dispatch reports a man posing as Rev David M Ausmus of Boston and claiming his brother James M Ausmus drowned after boarding a river trip near City Point. Police and locals drag the Appomattox for the missing man while hotel records dispute the minister’s claimed identity and church position.
Medfield marked its 250th incorporation anniversary with bell ringing and public exercises. An anniversary banquet was scheduled for the evening, highlighting the town’s milestone with community observances.
The will of Alfred T. Turner late treasurer of Boston is on file in the Suffolk probate office. It provides five thousand dollars in public bequests to several institutions including one thousand dollars each to The Perkins Institution and Massachusetts School for the Blind Home for Aged Colored Women Odd Fellows Home at Worcester Children’s Mission to the Children of the Destitute and the Franklin Typographical Society of Boston.
Commissioners Taft Wright and Ide arrive in Cavite to establish a provincial government today. Taft and Wright lead the delegation as Ide joins the move at Cavite in Manila.

Banking hours are 8 A.M. to 4 P.M. daily and 7 to 9 P.M evenings. Banking rooms are located at 30 to 46 Middlesex Street and 11 to 24 Post Office Avenue.
Pretoria report says Col. Wilson and 240 scouts struck Beyer’s 400 Boers 34 miles west of Warm Baths. After stiff resistance the Boers broke and fled, leaving 37 dead 100 captured and all wagons and 8000 cattle to the British. Beyer’s force later failed to regain the supplies leaving the Boers without transport or supplies.
Edward Kimball, famed for “raising” church debts and backing needy congregations, died at 11:30 a.m. in Oak Park, Chicago. Born July 29, 1823 in Rowley, Massachusetts, he moved to Chicago in 1872 and began fundraising in 1877. He reportedly raised about 15 million dollars for church debt relief and once collected 110 thousand dollars in two Sundays for Dr Robinson's Presbyterian church in New York.
An arson attempt at St John’s college and seminary in Brooklyn was made this morning. Kerosene was scattered in three ground floor bedrooms and ignited. The smoke and flames roused 18 priests and 40 seminarians who aided in fighting the blaze. Authorities suspect a recently discharged employee committed the act.
Norwich Conn June 6 Geo W Bentley of New York city railroad man shot and killed himself at his daughter's grave in the city cemetery last night. Despondency cited. He formerly supervised the New London and Northern, part of the Central Vermont system with office at New London. He was 75 and a 33d degree Mason.
The Leyland liner Assyrian bound for Montreal with two thousand tons cargo grounded at Cape Race at midnight. Eleven feet of water flooded the hold and the vessel is likely to be a total wreck. The crew narrowly escaped with no further particulars available.

A large audience at Associate hall enjoyed Mr Fred G Bond s pupil recital with Miss Carolyn White and Miss Juniata Godu as accompanists, and Mr Irving J Bancroft on violin. The program included quartets, songs, arias, duets, trios, and a final chorus, featuring varied composers and pieces.
At a county commissioners meeting a petition by John E Sullivan to relocate Andover street between Concord and High streets was considered with no opposition. N D Pratt spoke for Sullivan and City Engineer Bowers represented the city. The chairman said the commissioners will view the premises in due time and adjournment saw carriages taken to Andover street.
Will Arnoll proprietor of a Beaverton hotel and saloon fired on his family and others during a drunken rampage in Coleman Michigan. He killed his six year old daughter and wounded his wife his sister and mother and wounded Mrs Doph and his brother before being captured. his own wound was not fatal.
William O Butcher jumped the fence at the fair grounds and faced Judge Hadley. He was fined 5 dollars for trespassing plus 2 dollars for drunkenness. John Slattery received four months at the workhouse for drunkenness. Thomas F Kelleher faced a one month jail term after his wife testified to his drinking. Annie Guinan pleaded guilty and got four months, Mary Hayes and Blanche Burnette with others faced fines or probation. Charles Edward and Victor Lesage with George Comon had liquor case delayed to June 21. Edward Porter of Dracut was found not guilty of keeping an unlicensed dog.
Martha Ke. Wyman of Lowell left two sons out in her will. The will, drafted by Bernard D. O Connell, was challenged for undue influence but found the testatrix of sound mind. The decision, made by Judge Aiken, upholds most of the will with that exception. Bee Wyman received income during her brother’s life for distribution to St. John’s Hospital sisters after his death.
An eight hour rally by the trades and labor council devolved into a smoke talk and informal labor discussion. At a stationary meeting on last night street, men met at their hall in Mid object in view of forming a new strong organization. Speakers included Kent Williams of the Painters and Decorators Union Dennis Haley of the Leather Workers Union and Barrett of the Brotherhood of Stationary on. An open meeting is planned in two weeks.
Mrs F L Dani returned from Taunton where she was called on official business of the tuthbone Sisters.
The Kirk Street church Men’s League held its annual banquet in the vestry with a large crowd. Speakers urged paid assistants, emphasized male-focused outreach, and promoted organizing churches on business lines to win men for Christ. Apollo quartet and church leaders presided and reflected on past work and future plans.

Judge George F Lawton ruled in the Alice B vs Franklin E Johnson case that the wife is entitled to relief and support. He found the husband left her and ordered immediate payment of damages and weekly support of seven dollars starting June fourth.
A three week old baby was found abandoned in the Northern depot waiting room yesterday afternoon. No identification or caretaker information was available. Police were notified and the child was taken to the city farm for care.
