In Cleveland on July 31 mobs on the Big Consolidated streetcars are dispersed by bayonets after a Polish settlement disturbance. Militia quieted the night, while suburban cars were stoned and riders cannot obtain necessities, as merchants refuse service to anyone riding the Big Consolidated cars.

Nathaniel Davis a longtime Lowell contractor in stone cuting died Saturday morning of heart disease at his home. Born July 5 1818 in Warner New Hampshire he moved to Lowell in 1839 forming Runels Clough and later firms. Survived by wife two daughters Abbie F. and Juliette B and son Nathaniel A. Davis. He helped craft stone for notable buildings and Cape Ann lighthouses and was a Picot Congregational Society member. Burial details not listed.

Police liquor inspectors seized two cases of illegal liquor Saturday and two Sunday. At 97 French Street Albert P. Jones had whiskey found. M H Shanley was caught disposing of a heavy freight of bottled liquor in Belvidere. D A Sullivan at 1007 Gorham Street found beer and whiskey. A North Common arrest attempt failed as the suspect fled but was collared by Inspector McCann after John B. Therrien gave his name.
Two men entered 286 Adams Street apartments seeking booze, assaulted Mrs. Mary Foley when refused, kicking her downstairs and breaking two ribs. She was taken to St John’s Hospital after police and Capt. Ken were alerted. suspects are known to police.
A Lawrence guest party at 383 Suffolk Street in Lowell ended in a brawl after a joke tea gathering for Mrs. John Jennings. Guests including John Corrigan and Catherine Rowbottom exchanged cards, a bottle was smashed, and Mrs. Rowbottom and others were arrested and detained by police.
A Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill line conductor Al Hutchinson was assaulted on a late trip after a fare dispute. He suffered injuries and is under care, prompting police in Lowell, Lawrence and Haverhill to increase vigilance on late cars and curb drunken traffic.

James Cawley and Margaret Johnston were married Friday evening by Rev. J M Craig at his Westford Street home. After an extended honeymoon they will live in Lowell. The bride served for several years as night cashier at Burbeck's restaurant.
Miss Annie McPherson formerly of Lowell married last week Monday evening at St Anne's church in West Palm to Mr G Kitching of that city. The bride, once employed in Massachusetts mills, had many Lowell friends.
