London on July 22 reports the marriage of Princess Maud, third daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales, to Prince Charles, second son of Crown Prince Frederick of Denmark. The ceremony took place in the Royal chapel at St James Palace with modest attendance and simple decorations, while Marlborough House hosted elaborate arrangements by the Prince of Wales.

New York on July 22 reports twelve thousand coat makers walking out to press wholesalers for higher prices and end the task and piece system. Wholesalers, surprised, believed a strike would be inadvisable and unlikely.
The Boston will hearing for John Stetson Jr. resumes as Dr. O G Cilley testifies before Judge Grant. Adah Richmond, claiming to be the testator’s wife, is absent along with her counsel. Mrs. Stokes and sister Mrs. Inslee attend, while Dr. W W Noyes verifies his signature and testifies Mr. Stokes is of sound mind.
Secretary Olney and Mrs Olney visited the Falmouth marine exhibition with about 1300 attendees. The life saving crew staged an exhibition and a concert followed in the evening.
In Davis square Fred A. Tuttle spotted a stranger behind the grocery counter during the parade. The man claimed he wanted a dozen oranges and left without incident as no money was missing and no pockets held theft. A Frenchman nearby was said to be robbed of about $8 in Merrimack square during the procession.
The Garin monument foundation work has begun near St. Jean Baptiste church and the parochial residence. The foundation will be seven feet deep, marking the start of the Fr. Garin memorial project.
The board of health met yesterday afternoon to transact routine business with steps toward temporary abatement of nuisances. Complaints about the tannery prompted action to curb pollution and safeguard public welfare.

London reports Queen Victoria arrives from Windsor to attend Princess Maud’s wedding. A carriage accident injures the driver and a royal attendant, but the Queen remains unharmed and reassures the injured. A palace fire scare in Buckingham Palace is quickly controlled with no serious damage.
Howard R. Benedict son of James H Benedict and relative of E C Benedict died in New York eight hours after marrying Miss Margaret Lloyd of Cincinnati. The ceremony occurred in the Seventh Regiment Veterans Club. Benedict had been sick with typhoid since July 1 and was married at his bedside after telegraphic word reached Cincinnati. The couple wed with Dr Mason A Seagie present, and Benedict died soon after.
The hundredth anniversary of Robert Burns death was celebrated in Dumfries with heavy decoration and participation from Scottish societies of Britain and the United States. Lord Rosebery delivered the address, with Forrest Mac Lee of New York replying for visitors and Rev. Geo. C. Lorimer of Boston also speaking.
Thomas McGinness fell from the roof of the old tannery building on Plain Street. He struck his back on a beam and sustained a slight spine injury. He was treated and transported by ambulance from Worthen Street home.
Currier, reportedly from Lowell, was arrested in Portsmouth on Monday on a charge of swindling people through an insurance dodge. Little else is known about Currier.
Notices posted at the No. 2 Belvidere woolen mill say the plant will shut down during the month of August. Local workers and officials will review the impact and assess options for temporary layoffs and reconstruction plans.
Mr Henry K Gates has gone to Halifax Nova Scotia. Mrs C T Mason and Master Harry Mason will spend a month in Maine and New Brunswick. Mrs Landon Adams and family are at Hull where they will spend several weeks at the Oregon house.
The Fourth of July expenses were audited and handed to the city treasurer for payment. Prizes, bands, meals, carriage hires, decorations, and various services by individuals and small firms totaled hundreds of dollars, including $1000 for fireworks and payments to the Lowell Military Band and other contributors.
A 21-year-old man, Harry Lennox, was arrested at 1 30 PM on a charge of raising money by passing worthless checks. A clerk who received the check alerted Traders' bank, and Lennox was seen with a young lady entering the D L Page company store for lunch before police detained him at the station after an interview with Deputy McQuaid.
The County Commissioners heard petitioners for widening and relocating portions of Lawrence road from Methuen street to the river. Plans were examined and the matter taken under advisement until September. No opposition appeared. No decision yet in the Gorham street case.

Patrick J. Eggleton was fatally injured when run over by an engine in the Boston and Maine yard near Hood's Laboratory at about 4 AM. He suffered a fractured skull and injuries to both legs, was rushed to St. John’s Hospital, and died at 6 AM. He resided at 48 Lawrence Street and 49 Chelmsford Street, Chelmsford, and Chelmsford Centre, with no clear statement about his family.
The sports committee led by Councilman Miskella met to arrange the annual ball game against Boston council men. The event is set for Thursday July 30 at Mountain Rock. The selected team includes Captain Timothy Reynolds and James Miskella among others. exact positions are not yet assigned.
A man used different aliases to buy goods this morning with worthless checks drawn on local banks. He paid with checks, received change, and moved to another store while using a new name each time. Traders are warned to beware.
The committee on accounts met and approved bills including Fourth of July expenses totaling 480 over the appropriation. The Mayor announced he would cover the excess from the reserved fund, and all bills were approved.
A Crosby Street child, four year old Sarah Giloogly, was taken to St John’s Hospital after an accident yesterday afternoon. She was playing on a shed near home when her leg was impaled on a picket fence, resulting in a dangerous wound.

The program included piano solo by James Tummelty, songs by Arthur Mills and others, recitations by Michael Gorman and Terence Molloy, and a Mozart quartet featuring Redmond, McMahon, Martin, and Murphy.
Lands and Buildings committee had to rebid two contracts from Monday's meeting as bidders could not meet their bid figures. J H Walker lost Carter street school brick work to P O Hearn at 11569, while P Conlon's Pine street school brick work at 850 proved untenable and John Sweatt won at 1390. It is understood Walker and Conlon failed to include all expenses in their bids.
Curiosity rose over the Hayes will case as inquiries poured in. The celebrated matter has extensive testimony and was heard in Cambridge by Judge McIntire, who has the record under consideration. No decree has been entered and it may be a long time before one is issued.
