Saturday afternoon a neatly dressed middle aged woman named Mrs. Golding of Burlington Vermont engaged board at 34 and 35 Massachusetts corporation. At 7 pm she went out and did not return. She is described as 40 years old, wearing dark clothes and carrying considerable money. People at the house fear she may be slightly demented.
Downtown report this morning claimed a successor to Mr. Taft as agent of the B M in this city. Mr Taft said he had not heard anything about it by two o clock and remarked he would likely hear it as soon as anyone.

In Birmingham on January 27 Eugene Mosely a man with a wooden leg quarreled with his sweetheart last night He knocked her down and stamped upon her with the wooden leg causing her death Mosely has not yet been arrested.
A group of Lowell residents left on Saturday for Quebec to attend the carnival festivities. The travelers named include Moise Biscorneau, Joseph Bissonnette, Henri Lemaitre, Mr and Mrs Joseph Fortier and Miss Fortier, Mr and Mrs Thomas Cailli, and Joseph Monat.
Mrs Betsy Holton Moody, mother of the evangelist Dwight Lyman Moody, died at her East Northfield home. She would have turned 91 on February 5 if she lived. Four sons and one daughter were present. Dwight L. Moody came from Philadelphia to be with her at the end.
A morning fire at Joyce's saloon on Middle street was extinguished by the chemical engine and caused little damage. The blaze was started by a flash light used for a photograph. Church & Son had insurance. McManmon Palace florist stands next to the waiting room on Prescott street.

In San Francisco on January 27 a Southern Pacific train derailed last night. An engine and four cars wrecked, the engineer was killed and several passengers injured.
Miss Hannah Moylan aged 29 formerly a Brookline Mass domestic died by suicide at dusk Sunday night after leaping from a fourth floor window of the St Denis Hotel at Broadway and Seventh Street New York. Her brains were dashed on the sidewalk and death was instantaneous, she was said to be insane at the time.
Judge Hadley struggled as a crowd of non English speakers filled the dock. Polish interpreters aided three Poles fined. eight others faced cards on Sunday with a Greek interpreter. Charges ranged from fines of $5 to minors, with several first offenders dismissed. Martin received five months jailed for watch theft. Cassidy and Taylor remanded or continued. Liquor seized from Mary Gannon. Welch pleads not guilty on support. Frappier jailed for three months for theft and one month for drunkenness.

Lawrence Keegan of Providence, recently sentenced for the murder of Mrs. Emily Chambers, gave a statement to Deputy Viall at the state prison that will be used to thwart a requested new trial. He said he never knew Mrs. Chambers or Mrs. Laira, whose alleged murder plot he denies, yet he claimed he was with Mrs. Chambers on Westminster Street the day before her disappearance and that he lied to protect his case. He admitted boarding the Sall River boat with Mrs. Chambers.
The Boston court martial of Captain A D Mitten adjourned after a long session. Prosecution closed its case with witnesses detailing alleged drunkenness on Feb 13 1894 and related events. Defence planned to show Mitten 20 years service and strong financial standing while contesting the charges of embezzlement and conduct unbecoming an officer.
