Logan Carlisle son of ex Secretary John G Carlisle was buried today at Linden Grove cemetery after services at Scott Street Methodist Episcopal church in Covington Kentucky. The crowded ceremony featured numerous floral tributes from friends and family.

Hugh E Maguire 85 of 95 Christian Street Centralville was struck by a Salem train in the Boston and Maine yards near Hale Street Bridge and died two hours later at St Johns Hospital. He suffered severe injuries including the loss of a leg and scalp wounds from which he did not survive. Maguire, formerly with New England Tel and Tel, left a widow two children and a large family of siblings and was a member of St Michael church and Catholic societies.
The Loom Fixers association organized on Tuesday night held a meeting at Spinners hall to elect four officers including president and vice president. The group plans to elect remaining officers next Wednesday and invites unorganized operatives to seek assistance at 182 Moody street or 546 East Merrimack street.
About fifty night mill firemen gathered at the Building Laborers union hall to form a union. William A. Buckley led the meeting with Michael Kelly as temporary president. A permanent organization was discussed for the next session. Day firemen plan a separate meeting tomorrow night to join the effort with officers split between day and night crews.
The Lowell Socialist Labor union met in the Runels building last night with Charles H. McCullough presiding. James E. Buchanan spoke on Capital and Labor and James Schovis discussed socialistic principles. The Bricklayers union held a well attended meeting in the Building Laborers hall with routine business transacted.
James G. Buttrick led a Bible class program in the vestry of Highland Congregational Church last night for youngsters under 16. About a hundred children enjoyed games from 7 to 9 pm and a readings program by Miss Mabel Snow of Boston, which was greatly enjoyed.
Mr and Mrs Chris Holmes of 24 Mt Washington Street hosted a dinner for their clerks last night with eleven plates set. Entertainment included a graphophone and a tailless donkey while Mrs Walter Curtis of Boston, visiting with Mrs Holmes, charmed everyone with songs.
The Hope club of St. John's church hosted a vestry supper last night to celebrate its third anniversary. Guests Rev. L. C. Manchester Rev. Joseph A. Foster of Lawrence and Mrs. Manchester attended along with church members and friends.
The last will of Mrs Margaret Court was admitted to probate. Her will revokes the former document and adopts the special bequests from her husband Dr Robert Court. Executors are Judge Charles Cowley and Elder John D Hubbard. Bequests include $500 to her brother William Gilchrist and to sisters Jeanie Morten and Jessie Mathie. A half share goes to Mrs Morton and half to the First Presbyterian church. A perpetual care sum funds a Court monument at Edson cemetery. Books from Dr Court are sold to the Congregational Association and will be stored in the new Congregational house.
County commissioners convened at the American House in Boston to discuss county expenditures and highway building. About 50 attendees heard private discussions on state highway plans, with leaders Emerson Stone of Spencer named chairman and J Henry Reed elected secretary for life.
A double funeral for Thomas Burns and his niece Lizzie Lynch was held at St. Peter's church yesterday. The two coffins rested side by side as Rev. Fr McKenna celebrated mass with bearers including Philip Cummings John O'Brien John O'Connor James Mc Manus John McKeon Michael Sharkey and others.

The Middlesex chapel Ladies Aid held its annual meeting Tuesday to elect officers for the coming year. A large attendance saw Mrs. Henry S. Smith named president, Mrs. George McDonald vice president, Mrs. Edwin Duren secretary, and Mrs. Joseph Bowers treasurer. The treasurer reported 1897 receipts of $394.79, outlays of $258.39, and cash on hand of $148.24 as of January 1, 1898, with all bills paid.

Jerome B Gilbert aged 7 years months and 17 days died in Chelmsford Centre. Funeral services will be held at his late home Friday at 1 oclock p m. Friends and relatives invited.
