Huntington hall hosted the Mathew Temperance Institute fifteenth anniversary concert and ball with the American orchestra providing music for a program of quadrilles and waltzes. Officers of the evening included General manager John J. Burns, floor director Patrick F. Reilly, and assistants John J. Gallagher and John J. Pinder.

The body of Mrs Caroline C. Davis grandmother of Supt. G R Davis died in Greenfield Me and was interred in the Dracut family lot with grave services led by Rev Dr Greene of the Eliot church. Bearers were Andrew L Pendergast Nathan D Pratt Frank Goodwin and Patrick Kelly. Also funeral services for Michael Devine were held at J F O Donnell's rooms at 10 this morning with Rev Fr Burke officiating at the grave in the Catholic cemetery.
City committee filed receipts and expenditures from the last municipal election. Total receipts $2250.23, expenditures $1361.77, liabilities $282.59, cash on hand $633.58 as of Nov 21 1896. Additional receipts included council and mayoral pledges and multiple individual gifts. Expenditures covered bonds, bills from the national election, rent and clerical services. The Merrimack Valley Conference of Universalist churches meets next Wednesday at First Universalist church in Haverhill. The program includes morning conference on righteousness led by Rev. H S Fiske Methuen, sermon by Rev. F W Gibbs Amesbury, and afternoon talks on personal consecration and revival led by Rev. W E Gibbs Lawrence and R A Greene Lowell. An address on how brought about by Rev. C E Fisher and a general discussion follow in the evening.

Police Court session led to brief proceedings with three defendants released. Ernest Fortain faced larceny of shoes and Mr Hart embezzlement of a bicycle, but both cases were continued.
Lowell lodge I O O F installed its recently elected officers with District Deputy Grand Master A H Schoolcraft overseeing ceremonies.
