In Madrid the name sounds Mah tha yo with the stress on the second syllable, using th for c before a vowel. Both follow Latin word accent rules based on syllable lengths.

Funeral services were conducted yesterday and today for Angelina Gee John Neil sr Catherine Conmee and Henry J Lanthier. Clergy officiants included Rev J C Manchester Rev Dr Court Rev Fr Gilday and Rev Fr O'Donnell with burials at Lowell Edson Catholic and St Joseph's cemeteries. Undertakers were Samuel Sewall Young and O'Donnell. Lanthier a fellow newspaper man was remembered for his cheerful disposition.
Patrick J. Lynch died at his home on 82 Common Street aged 57 leaving three sons Michael Thomas and John and a daughter. Alice Rose Marren aged 18 and six months died after a short illness at 56 Butterfield Street. She was a pupil at the High School and active in St. Peter's church sodalities. Funeral from St. Peter's church Friday at 9 AM.
A horse that had been overdriven was found exhausted on West street yesterday and shot by order of the Humane Society.
Notices announce the deaths of Alice Rose Marren aged 18 years 6 months and Catherine Runels aged 46 years. Also listed is infant John J Regan Runels of 447 Worthen Street, son of Cornelius and Maria Regan Runels, born and died January 5 in this city.
