Black grave robber slain after 21 years of fear
Frank McNamee, once head of the Lebanon cemetery theft syndicate, was found unconscious with a fractured head at Fifth and Walnut and died hours later. He had feared a negro slayer for two decades as vigilante threats followed him after grave robberies. Police probe yielded no slayer. McNamee, jailed for the Lebanon cemetery robberies, had long lived in terror after release. Saturday a requiem mass for Rev. Fr. Charles McGurty, O. M. I., will be held at Immaculate Conception church for injuries from a university fire.
