Ahamet Mohamet, a Syrian, faced larceny and liquor charges with his case continued for six weeks due to the absence of a tools kit as key evidence. The kit, which had been in Springfield, arrived this morning, with Mohamet fined $15 in connection to the liquor violation.
During a gale early today a chimney at 81 Bartlett Street occupied by Mrs. Sarah McCaffrey collapsed with a crash. Bricks damaged the kitchen roof and passage to the rear. No one was injured. The chimney fell “like a thousand of brick.”
The auction of Smalley & Co straw goods wrapped up Tuesday after two days with 666 lots catalogued and about 40 bidders.
