Agent H C Taft of the Boston and Maine railroad narrowly escaped death when his right hand touched a live wire on the Middlesex street depot roof. Several workers feared to assist as Taft remained clutched to the wire for moments before both hand and wire separated. He recovered consciousness and was treated by Dr. Irish. burns reached the bone and reports indicated 11% volts passed through his body.
A general Oblate Fathers retreat will be held at the Tewksbury novitiate for five days next week. Rev Fathers Joyce and Reynolds will attend the retreat at Immaculate Conception and Sacred Heart churches. Rev Fr Lefebvre of the Oblates in the United States will preach. At Athol last night spectators enjoyed Brookside park cycling events though the mile match between Fil Gaudette and Quimby was postponed. Hutchins lost to Gaudette in a separate race.
