The China Webster and Pembroke mills closed for three weeks for extensive mill dam repairs. The three mills combined employ 1559 workers with a weekly payroll around $35,000 in Suncock New Hampshire on August 16.

In Springfield Rochester won 4 to 0 as Springfield lost to Rochester. Providence defeated Syracuse 7 to 1 after Syracuse earlier notched 2. Scranton beat Toronto 6 to 2. Cincinnati defeated St Louis 10 to 5. Louisville beat Chicago 5 to 2. Providence posted a 23 to 0 win over Syracuse.
An American Economist analysis claims 22 months of German Tariff reduced our favorable trade balance by 95 million dollars and Treasury receipts by 102 million from the McKinley period. Nellie Shea, illegally keeping liquor, had her case continued to Aug. 22. Mary E. Howe, charged with larceny, had her case continued for one month.
