Sergeant McKinnon of Company G Sixth Massachusetts arrived home Tuesday evening to surprise his parents at Wigginville. He had fallen ill July 1 and spent about six weeks in hospital, losing 20 pounds. While convalescing he led a squad of about 20 men from multiple regiments attached to hospital service. He praised Camp Alger discipline and noted the Sixth Massachusetts was among the better units, despite room for improvement in healthful conditions.
