Lawrence Aug 8 Benjamin F Le favour a Boston and Maine fireman was killed near the Salem street bridge after being struck by a switch frame on a passing freight train. He was 21 and resided in Haverhill. The incident occurred just after 6 o clock as he rode the step of the car en route to the South depot.

Pittsfield reports the death of Mayor William W. Whiting from apoplexy at 10:10 p m after a seizure during an aldermen’s session. He collapsed at the desk, was aided, and died about an hour later at the House of Mercy. Born in 1847 in Bath New York he trained in local schools and pursued public service.

Dr Isaiah Hutchins aged 70 died after a long illness at his West Acton home. Born 1829 in Westford, he lived in Acton, practiced medicine since 1852, served in the Civil War, and was active in church and local politics. He married Sarah Fuller in 1852 and adopted several children. Funeral set for Thursday at 2 p.m.

The funeral of Owen Quinn, an old and respected resident, was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o clock from his late home at 9 Willie Street. Many floral tributes included a father spray from the family and sprays from Katie and Minnie Sullivan. Bearers were Daniel Quinn, John Geary, Thomas Manning, James Riley, John Wlood and Patrick Ward. Rev Fy Burke officiated. interment followed at the Catholic cemetery.
Edward Kelley eight of 108 Chapel street suffered a severe laceration after falling from a tree hook while swinging. He was rushed by ambulance to St John’s hospital. Henry Conley five of 228 Adams street was badly burned when a torch thrown by another child caught his night shirt. He was carried by ambulance to St John’s hospital.
