Mrs Lizzie Simers of New York wife of a young piano tuner who had been married three months set fire to a bottle of naphtha while curling hair last evening Her clothing ignited and before her husband could help she leaped from the fourth story She died two hours later on the sidewalk with burns and fatal injuries.

Fire last night destroyed Edwin Whitcomb's cattle barn at 591 Varnum Avenue, burning seven cows, 18 tons of hay, and 1000 pounds of grain with an estimated $4,000 loss. Officer Fitzgerald drew residents to safety, released five cows, and alerted Box 74 as Pawtucketville crews fought the blaze. No insurance covered the property. several firemen were injured slightly, and the cause remained unknown.
