A Grand Trunk passenger train leaving Chicago at 8:15 PM was wrecked near Haskells eight miles east of Valparaiso Indiana by a strong wind storm. The engineer Robert Melrose of Battle Creek Michigan was seriously hurt. the fireman and mail clerk were badly hurt. No passengers were seriously injured. A box car blown from a siding blocked the main track, causing the collision and derailment. It took two hours to free the engineer from wreckage.
