Joseph E. Kelley, the Somersworth murderer, arrived in Dover at 10 17 this morning and was taken to Stratford county jail three minutes later. A large orderly crowd gathered at the depot. Kelley said he was glad the thing was over. The preliminary hearing is expected Saturday.
A Montvededo correspondent reports a bold attempt to assassinate President Borda in Montevideo. An unknown revolutionsist fired on him in the street but caused no injury. The shooter was arrested and refused to reveal his identity.
New York April 22 Lieutenant Manlio Garibaldi, son of the late Italian patriot, sailed for Greece to assist the Greeks as his brother readiness to act. He declared that wherever liberty needs a leader there is a Garibaldi.
London April 22 report says Major Anzelinos who ordered Greek troops to abandon Gritzovali, later replaced by Colonel Papastavro, died by his own hand at Tyrnavo according to an Athens dispatch.
Paris dispatch from Odessa reports Sebastopol has prepared for Russia to intervene in the Turkey Greece war. The Journal's correspondent notes that all necessary measures have been taken for possible future action.
Billy Vernon died at five this morning following injuries sustained in a Thursday night fight with Leslie Pearce. Fifty witnesses testified that the death was directly caused by severe blows to the head.

Gov. Black is expected to sign a bill passed by both houses taxing inheritances. The law imposes a 5 percent transfer tax on personal estate, plus an accumulating 1 percent for each additional 250,000 over 500,000, with caps at 15 percent for estates over 3,000,000 and 10 percent for estates over 4,000,000.
Edgar Benn and Joseph Hesswick of the Bennett and Moulton company were arrested after a confrontation in front of the Vendome hotel over Benn’s wife. Both men were taken to custody by two officers. Bail proved difficult with the Clerk away, but they were released on their own recognizance to appear in police court for the matinee.
Mr and Mrs F J Murphy of Pleasant View near Beverly vanished after leaving Peabody Monday in a dory bound for home. Their capsized boat was found in Bass River with oars missing. They were last seen heading home at 5 pm. Murphy was a shoemaker and they leave one child.
The New York assembly passed a Senate gas bill proposing an annual five cent reduction in New York City gas for five years from the current price of 1.25. The bill heads to Gov. Black for approval. Miss Minnie Bassett, 20, committed suicide at Hartford almshouse by hanging herself with a clothes line. She claimed to be the daughter of Joseph Bassett of Morrisville Vermont.
George Griggs aged 23 was arrested in Lowell after Providence police sought him for stealing 2300 dollars from his brother in law Robert Burlingham in Providence. Griggs, tracked to Boston then Lowell, was found with 1954.70 in cash a gold watch chain valued at 35 and a ring worth 5. He confessed after questioning by Det. Cannon and Insp. Allen. He hired a horse and buggy for the day and planned to leave for the Northern depot.
No arrests have been made as investigators probe the Board of Health stable fire that destroyed six horses. The blaze started near the door where a draught aided spread. John F. Murphy hired three horses for department use and ordered a gate cut through the billboard on Cross street to provide yard access.
The Eleventh Street parsonage of Central M E Church was filled to capacity last evening as parishioners and friends warmly welcomed Rev C M Hall for his third year as pastor. A musical program featured Miss Maude E Paradis on piano along with songs by Miss Emma Coote Rev Mr Paradis Mr Henri Brunette and Harry Stocks. Miss Ethel Paradis accompanied on piano. Ice cream and cake were provided by the Ladies Benevolent Society and served by Mr and Mrs Harry Seymour and Mrs Coote. It was a pleasant occasion for pastor and people and greatly enjoyed.
Lowell veterans who served with the Second Massachusetts Infantry question their exclusion from the Shaw memorial dedication on Memorial Day. They recall Robert G. Shaw’s rise from captain to colonel and seek inclusion at the Boston Common ceremony amid organized and private discussions.
Miss Kate Langan and Mr. Patrick Hannigan were married yesterday afternoon by Rev. Fr. Ronan at St. Peter's parsonage. Miss Nellie Langan served as bridesmaid and Mr. James Jordan of Lawrence was best man. A reception followed at 21 Lawrence Street.
Miss Julia Hudson Fiske daughter of the late General W O Fiske and Frank A Burd of the First National Bank of Saratoga N Y married in the Unitarian church at 630 last night. The church, filled with Saratoga residents, featured palms ferns and lilies and a large bridal party. The ceremony was conducted by Rev C T Billings with grand mother Mrs J B Fielding giving the bride away. A reception for about a hundred followed at the home of Mr and Mrs H C Howe with music by the American orchestra and luncheon by D L Page company. The couple will reside in Saratoga.
Miss Emma Agnes Black and Mr. Alfred F. Leith united in marriage at the Berean P M church last evening. Rev. Charles Darlington performed the ceremony in front of many friends. Bridesmaid Ella B. Black and best man Albert Burker led a line of ushers. A reception followed at the bride’s mother’s Congress street home. The couple will reside at 17 West Woods street after their wedding trip.
Miss Alice F Spofford and Mr John H Huntley were united in marriage last night by Rev Hibbert Lockhart at 32 London Street. Gertrude W Huntley was bridesmaid and A E H Bagshaw was best man. A reception followed with Edna Brown Helen Ashworth Edith Williams and Abbie Chapman assisting. The couple will reside at 32 London Street.
At the residence of the bride 27 West Fourth street Otis R Atherton and Gertrude E Sands were united in marriage by Rev Frank K Stratton of St Pauls church. They received many valuable gifts and will reside at 27 West Fifth street after a brief wedding trip.
A small heap of rubbish in the cellar of J J Donavan’s butcher shop at Broadway and Willie streets caught fire this morning. An alarm was rung at 7 20 from box 39. Damage was trifling. H C Church and Son held the insurance on the property.
Justice Charles Allen of the Supreme Court has rendered an opinion on the quo warranto cases heard last Tuesday. Papers read show the opinion reserved for the full bench on pleadings and agreed statement of facts. The full bench will act on the case probably May 18.
Police court docket was light. Three drunks fined eight dollars each, three fined one dollar each, and one jailed in the workhouse for four months. The embezzlement case against J. E. Bousquet was placed on file.
A team of Malden police and city officials inspected the Gamewell system yesterday afternoon, reviewing operations and compliance with local standards.

Obituary notes Helen Geoghegan died this morning at 10 30 in Lowell General Hospital at age 18. She is survived by two sisters, both in Lowell.
