Help note announces the ee rill fundraising effort with Pratt and Forrest initiating the subscription. Cabrier Citizen and C F Keyes join to add to the fund as supporters seek community backing.
Pratt and Forrest and others pledged amounts totaling five thousand dollars for a matter involving Courier-Citizen as well as individuals like C F Keyes Michael T Murphy Anthony Conway and Thomas Ramsey.
The Mawhinney Shoe Company of Boston will build a large factory in Lowell. By offering a free site Mayor Casey won the deal and now must raise 5000 dollars by subscription. Pratt & Forrest gave the first 100 dollars, followed by The Courier-Citizen Company. Prompt subscriptions are urged to attract further industry to Lowell.
A 1905 notice reports another $25 donation to fund land for a new shoe mill in the city. Letters show support from Charles F. San Francisco April 11 The steamer City of Sydney arrives with news of New York lawyer Gardner held in a government prison in Guatemala City. Friends have failed to secure release or trial after his alleged contempt of court detention persisted for months.
King Edward and Queen Alexandra sailed today on the royal yacht Nichosia and Albert for Palma in Majorca, during April 41 from Port Mahon on the island of Minorca.
A Boston hearing on the bill to abolish the Merrimack street depot and Thorndike street grade crossings in Lowell featured Mayor Casey and Alderman Carmichael arguing for the move to reduce fire risk and traffic danger. W W Blaisdell, missing from 26 Brown Street since last Wednesday, writes from a New Hampshire farm that he is lonely and wants to return home if his family wishes. The family doubts his fitness to return, fearing further roaming fits, and notes his erratic tone and uncertain plans to come back to Lowell or stay away.
New York April 11. The Standard Rope and Twine Co reorganiz ation plans are practically completed says the Herald. A formal announcement is expected soon detailing about 1,000,000 dollars in new cash underwritten to support the reorganization.

Boston April 11 denial from Lowell Machine Shops executives disputes trade papers claim of Draper Company control. Officials say Saco Pettee Machine shops Biddeford and Newton along with Kitson Machine Company Lowell currently hold control of the Lowell facilities.
A rumor from the Kitson Machine Co. office claims negotiations are underway for the acquisition of Kitson by Saco & Pettee, similar to a previous deal with the Lowell Machine Shop. The report could not be verified at the time.
Frank S. Colton, a broker formerly of the city, appeared before Judge Forsaith in Boston municipal court on Monday and was held for the grand jury on a complaint by Dr. J. T. Donohue. The charge alleges larceny of a stock certificate valued at 860 dollars. J. J. McClure represented the complainant and J. F. Morse defended Colton.
Placerville California April 11 At Indian Diggins Eldorado county Austin Siorgan Starkey aged 74 shot and killed his son Joseph Starkey to prevent further tragedy after the son had fatally hacked a ten year old niece with an axe.
Kid Everett of New York knocked out Walter Johnston of Philadelphia in the sixth round of a scheduled finish near Kingston New York early today.
Tokyo reports Japan plans a major reinforcement of its Manchurian armies. Details are kept secret but estimates suggest by autumn the field force will exceed 700000, with overall organization over a million.
