Watertown eighth April 3. George C. Martin a hotel clerk sustained several falls while learning to ride a wheel this morning. The last fall proved fatal as he did not rise when picked up, the exertion causing heart disease according to doctors.
The fifty fourth annual Oxford Cambridge boat race was rowed today at Putney and won by Oxford by two lengths. Oxford finished in 19 minutes 12 seconds, giving Oxford 31 wins in 54 heats and eight consecutive victories.
Canton Maine April 3 The Portland Paper company's mill at Gilbertville was burned today causing an estimated loss of 100000 dollars.

The 58 year old James McManimon, born in Tyrone Ireland, died recently. Funeral Mass held at the Catholic church with Rev. J J Shaw officiating. He leaves a wife and three children, plus a brother and sister. Interment at Catholic Cemetery Lowell.

Ladd and Whitney circle of the Ladies of the G A R held an old maids auction and supper last night with Frank Peabody as auctioneer. The committee on arrangements was led by chairman Mrs Alfreda H Perkins and included Mrs Catherine Smith Mrs Abbie J Saunders Mrs Annie M Stone Mrs Elizabeth E Smith and Mrs Eliza M Smith. The group will attend service at the First Congregational church on Memorial Sunday.

The funeral of Mrs Thirsea McElman occurred yesterday afternoon at 2 30 from her son in law C A Cruchet 66 Grand street Rev George F Kenngett conducted the service with a quartet supplying music. Bearers were her sons. Burial followed at Edson cemetery under Undertaker Currier.
Obituary notices report Selma F infant daughter of Fred C and Lottie Noyes died at grandparents home aged six months. Eli B Kittredge native of Chelmsford died in Brockton at about 70 due to paralysis. He was youngest child of Dr Paul and Rebecca Kittredge with two survivors Mrs J B Brown and Mrs Nancy M Metcalf. Richard W son of Patrick Lynch died at 125 Cross Street aged 27. Burial at Chelmsford Centre this afternoon.
Mrs Jennie Adams died in this city on April 2 aged 54 wife of George S Adams funeral at 14 June street Sunday at 2 30. Mrs Hannah Lilley died April 3 at 1897 Middlesex Street aged 84. William E Worthen died in New York City April 3 with graveside service at Lowell Cemetery Tuesday at 10 15. Friends invited.
