A Yellowstone caretaker notes the birth of a new geyser in the Fountain basin. For about an hour after its first eruption it emitted a continuous jet of hot water hundreds of feet high. Thirty nine men took the examination at city hall for a police force eligible list. Chief Examiner Henry Sherwin supervised with Lowell commission members C H Conant Joseph Smith and Dr J J Colton present. Those passing will be examined by the city physician and then demonstrate strength at the YMCA gymnasium as a final test before badge eligibility.

Sept J. 8. Gillow warns an extra appropriation may be needed to finish the High school annex. Aldermen could not muster a quorum for their adjourned meeting Saturday night. They did not expect one, however.
Mr. Frank K. Stearns staged a dramatic reading of the three act comedy Caste at the Training school Saturday night. A large audience including school board members praised the performance and called for repeats. A brief musical program followed by three young women and James Donnelly accompanied by Mr. Donnelly accompanied the singers.
Henry H Harris of Vare num school led a stereopticon lecture on the Passion Play Sunday night at the YMCA hall with songs by Mrs Hugh Walker and Mr James B Donnelly. Teresa Corbett accompanied. Mr Donnelly’s singing and colored screen illustrations impressed the audience, and he also sang Faure’s Palm Branches. Mr J B Owens presided.

At yesterday's Lowell Democratic club meeting voters chose to postpone the club banquet from Tuesday evening April 2 and Thursday evening April 18 to a later date.
