Death Claims David L Coffey After Auto Crash
David L Coffey 79 died Sunday at McHobbs hospital where he had been since injuries from an automobile crash on September 11 near the Denver City Seminole cut off. His wife and daughter also died in the crash. He lived at 401 Powell St Wynnewood Oklahoma and was taken by Griffin Funeral Coach. Funeral services will be Tuesday afternoon. He was born in Arkansas, a farmer, and a Church of Christ member.

Lovington Patrolman Dismissed After Youth Center Incident
Lovington Police Patrolman Bill Lawson is dismissed after an incident at the Lovington Youth Center last Friday. Investigation shows Lawson struck a 14 year old boy without provocation. Lawson admits to hitting the youth over the right eye thinking he was another boy. The injured Hobbs resident has obtained an attorney.

Lovington Soldier Stationed In Hawaii 25th Division
Sgt. Max A. Land of Lovington is a member of the 25th Infantry Division stationed at Schofield Barracks Hawaii. The division, recently transferred from Korea, has seen heavy combat in Korea and arrived on the peninsula in July 1950. Land, son of William R. Land, joined the Army in 1939 and is married to Maud of Lovington.

Services for James Myrdie Slim Flemons were held at the First Baptist Church in Seminole Texas with Rev. C G Wyatt officiating. He was buried in Lovington Cemetery. Flemons born March 11 1903 in Alabama married Maye Parker September 2 1929 in Tecumseh Oklahoma. He lived in Lovington from 1946 until moving to Seminole last spring. Survived by wife Maye Flemons two sons Jimmy of Lovington James of Fort Pierce Florida a daughter Shirley of Seminole two grandchildren three brothers and two sisters. Pallbearers were Amarada Company Crew No 11 men.

Prowler Caught In Hobbs Sunday
Hobbs residents were relieved after Alfredo Negle of Hobbs was captured by neighbor Mrs. Pinky Hamlin near her home on 1001 St. Cochran. Police took the suspect to the station for questioning after Hamlin tracked him for 23 blocks and halted him at the mouth of an alley. Nyle will face a preliminary hearing Friday at 10 a.m.

State Game Chief To Speak In Hobbs

Pete's Fellow Snakes Die After Escape at Fort Worth Zoo
In Fort Worth Texas all poisonous snakes at the forest park Zoo are killed following a security scare. Owner Harry Jackson says Pete the 18 foot python remains missing after escape attempts. Cages are now deemed escape proof and only harmless snakes remain. Police found a 10 foot tubing dummy of the python across a park road.
