Frank Selman a Hobbs rancher aged 69 was released from Lea County Hospital after treatment for injuries from a Thursday horseback accident on the highway near his ranch. Perry Bowen was reported resting comfortably after an attack in the District Court Room Monday morning. Bowen attended to answer an order to show cause in a divorce and property settlement case filed by his wife Anne Oglesby Bowen. He collapsed in the back room of the district clerk’s office, receiving first aid from his attorney Finis L. Heidel and others before Dr. Hilton W. Gillett examined him and he was sent to rest in the jury room with plans to go home by taxi.

Fire at Custom Gin Near Hobbs Ends Quickly
A fire started while the Custom Gin operated nine miles east of Hobbs on the Denver City Highway. Discovered at 5:15 Thursday morning, it was quickly extinguished with very little damage reported as the blaze confined to the cotton where it began and no machinery was damaged.
