Boy Kills Hawk With Bow and Arrow in Lovington Yard
Ten year old Woody Carter of 307 South Third Street Lovington used a bow and arrow to shoot a hawk perched 30 feet above his house after his father reminded him rifles were illegal in the city limits. The boy had earlier killed two hawks on foot at an old Lea County oil site while with his father W W Carter. The neighbor boys gathered as the hawk toppled after three tries, and the incident remains a talk of the neighborhood a week later.
