Lea County Electric Cooperative invites members to its annual meeting at the Lea Theatre in Lovington on Monday. Registration starts at 9 a.m. and the gathering at 10. Trustees nominated include Kyle Taylor Mallamar Hubert Gill and Grady Richardson. Door prizes include a 17 inch television set and numerous small items from local businesses. The cooperative has grown from 1,345 to 4,195 service connections in four years with a $10,000 monthly payroll under manager R B Moore.

Wanted Men Bound Over For District Court In Burglary Case
Two men Dillard Hedge and Everett Lee Harrison were bound over to district court after a preliminary hearing in Lovington for breaking into the Tatum Sweet Shop and Bar on April 8 1953. Harrison faces an additional assault with a pistol charge. Bond set at 2500 each. Witnesses included Mrs. R V Nichols Patterson and deputy J G McAdoo. Evidence tied to a car owned by Hedge and a sledge hammer hit used in the break in. Both men pleaded not guilty.

Garnie Atkisson to Leave Lovington Church
Minister Garnie Atkisson will close his Lovington Church of Christ work next Sunday evening after nearly four years.
