Three traffic deaths push New Mexico toll to 106 this year
A two car head on crash seven miles north of Carlsbad killed 67 year old Ageda Villa and 12 year old Gilbert Rivas and injured three others. Villa was Artesia resident and Rivas from Carlsbad. The driver on the opposite vehicle was Kenneth Melton of Roswell on the wrong side of the highway. Earlier, 45 year old Robert Graves of Monroe Louisiana died in a truck car crash near Deming on U S Highway 70 80.

Recover Car Before Theft Is Reported
City police recovered a car ten minutes before it was reported stolen Thursday night. At 10 15 p m officers stopped a car for a routine check and the operator fled taking the keys. Later at 10 25 p m B L Teas reported his car stolen from a nearby drive in. Police are seeking the two men who were in the car when first stopped.

Hobbs Principal In Good Condition After Accident
Roy Haines the 42 year old principal of Southern Heights Elementary Hobbs is in very good condition at Lea General Hospital after a late Thursday afternoon crash. He suffered a fractured pelvis and minor injuries when his 1955 Oldsmobile was hit broadside by a B and J Construction bulk truck at Turner Street and Harden Boulevard. The truck driver Emer Cleveland Hobbs said he stopped at a stop sign and then started again not seeing Haines. Haines car was demolished after skidding about 50 feet and traveling 44 feet in a southwestern direction. No citations were issued.
