Diminutive Ray Clay Sparks Hobbs District Victory
Ray Clay, at 5'8, poured in 29 points to lead the Hobbs Eagles to a 91-69 win over Carlsbad Cavemen in the District 4-A final in Hobbs. Euell Amerson 27 of Hobbs sustained a broken right leg below the knee a fractured skull and other injuries after his motorcycle collided with a rear moving truck driven by John K. Howey five miles west of Jal at 11 45 a m Sunday. Witnesses Don Blocker P G Gilbert and Larry Gann from Hobbs assisted Amerson before he was taken to a Kermit Texas hospital.

Beeman Injured in Brawl at 200th Club
Charles Richard Beeman, 21, of Lovington, suffered a broken jaw concussion and ear drum injury in a Sunday 12 30 a m brawl at the 200th Club.
