Maljamar defeated Jake's Fountain 10 9 in the first game of a Friday night doubleheader. Maljamar built a 9 1 lead after scoring seven runs in the third inning while Jake's rallied with seven runs in the fourth and fifth. In the sixth Jake's tied the game but Maljamar pushed ahead with one run in their half and held on as Jake's failed to score in the last inning. Bullpen roles noted for Maljamar were Strickland and Glover with Clark handling the last four innings for Jake's.
Magnolia out hit Lindys 7 2 at Lovington Lions Field to claim a 7 2 victory. Camp fanned six for Magnolia while Bailey struck out two for Lindys as Magnolia moved to 1 1 in the season with a game rained out earlier.
A lush Albuquerque night club, Casa Manana, is up for sale by owner William Mearns who, as director of the State Sales Tax Division, recently took possession from Bill Friday the former club manager. The club is closed but Mearns may reopen and says the property is for sale now. Friday did not comment.
